Monk Bretton.F.C. u18's 0 Vs Wakefield.F.C. U18 's 4
A previously unbeaten Monk Bretton side were hosts to a Wakefield side ready to play football.
They made it clear to all watching that the were in the mood to show what they could do. It took just six minutes for Carl Woodhead to receive a cross from the right wing and put it in the back of the net. 0 – 1 Wakefield.
Three minutes later Luke Danville just failed to make it two- nil with a header.
Alex Bromley took a knock to his face (from a high boot) on twenty minutes but this did not stop the industrious winger firing a shot at goal on thirty one minutes that produced a brilliant save from the Monk Bretton keeper, who could not hold the ball. Carl Woodhead was on hand to hit the second goal before half time.
Wakefield started the second half with the same attitude that produced a team effort that would take some beating.
A long throw in from the touch line by Carl Woodhead found the head of Luke Danville and the big defender scored after six minutes of the re- start. Wakefield continued to play good fast fluent foot ball resulting in the fourth goal from another header by Luke Danville.
The four nil win to the Wakefield squad is testament to the whole squad performance and was reflected in the time it took Ronnie Glavin to pick a man of the match. Carl Woodhead was named after assessing numerous individual performances.
