U19's maintain unbeaten run in style Club News | Wed 4th Nov 09 The Bears U19's team were again in strong form last night, beating fellow previously unbeaten Ossett Albion 4-0
Matty Wears opened the scoring after 7 minutes with an excellent left foot shot into the far corner following good wingplay from Ryan Pleasants who had been slipped through by Eilliot Firth.
A sharp save from Crossland on 25 minutes down to his left hand post contributed to the clean sheet, which was Albions only real shot in the game. Albion managed to keep the score down to 1-0 going into the break.
After the break Wakefield turned the screw even more and after 70 minutes Nash Connolly jinked past 3 players in the penalty area before crashing the ball into the net following excellent wing play by Matty Wears.
South got in on the act with a superb diving header from a sweet Glavin cross on 75 minutes. 5 minutes later South played Firth in who dashed towards the edge of the box before coolly chipping the onrushing keeper. It was almost 5 on 88 minutes when Firth slammed the ball onto the face of the crossbar from the edge of the box with the goalkeeper well and truly beaten.
A great performance and entertainment for as little as £2!!
Man of the Match-tough one, but Matty Wears probably just edged it
