Match report from Ossett Albion website.............
Ossett Albion 2 - 3 Wakefield Comments (0) Comment 0 Share 1 Tweet 0 Albion started as if they wanted the game to be over by half-time and they looked as if they would over-run Wakefield. Then it all went horribly wrong!
A deft chip shot from Marc Thompson in the 7th minute gave Albion the lead which they looked certain to build on. Within 5 minutes Wakefield were level after Josh Grant converted a penalty. Albion continued to press and in the 24th minute a good run from Darol Lucas brought a good save from Neil Bennett in the Wakefield goal. The ball was pushed out to the left and Lucas got to it first to pick out Dale Kelly in the centre to score Albion's second. Within 2 minutes Wakefield were level again when a poor piece of defending gave Ross Hardaker the chance to slot the ball home. This seemed to be the point when Wakefield believed they could win the match and Albion seemed to stop believing they could win. Then, just before the interval, Sequille Clarke gave Wakefield the lead for the first time in the match after another piece of poor defending from Albion. The second half saw Wakefield full of running and they seemed determined to hang on to their lead. Albion tried to raise their game but seemed unable to make the telling passes necessary to break down the Wakefield defence. They had plenty of possession but were unable to create any clear-cut chances. Obviously Albion minds were thinking ahead to Saturday's F.A. Cup 4th Qualifying Round match at Bradford Park Avenue but they also need to make sure they win these "bread and butter" matches in the League. Nothing should be taken away from Wakefield who played well for each other and had their minds fully focussed on the task in hand.
