With 800,000 at home games you'll soon get the money together. Can the ground hold 800,000 ?

we,r making a few alterations to accomodate them

Ideally we'll be able to assemble a side capable of promotion. I dont want to seem like a big time charlie but
we have to look to move back up the leagues ASAP.
I've watched a few Northern League games and realise that promotion, whilst our goal is no foregone conclusion.
For starters we dont actually have a team or manager at this point. Two players remain contracted and some of the youth
team may opt to remain so we have from now to the start of the season to build.
Who'd have thought that after following the team for over forty years I'd be watching them at their lowest level since 1908!
Still I'm looking forward to next season and visiting as many grounds as possible.
Look forward to meeting you all though hopefully it'll be for one season only!

Very honest post. But there's some rose tinted spectacles about it. Just 2 players contracted? Won't they be on Conference wage levels? Can you afford to keep them on? No Manager? Then you can't really start to sign players until he is in position, because any decent manager would want to get his own players in. This is cutting into the time before the season's due to start plus you surely need to get a couple of friendlies under your belt to get the players match fit. You could be right hoping you're in Northern League Division 1 for one season but if you're not careful it could be the other way that you're going. It's a big task ahead for Darlington and if they start the season poorly then they'll be an even longer road ahead.

Cheers for the welcomes. I'm actually looking forward to it! The FA have cocked up bigstyle but at the same time, what an opportunity to start again in 'proper' football.

I lost touch last season, purely for paying £18 a game to get beaten. Clean slate, plenty of away games and maybe even challenge for some honours for once?!

Well my view is that i feel kinda sorry for the Darlo fans who have seen all this happen to there club as i can remember them playing Rochdale in the League Two play off semi final 6 years ago now next season they will be playing in the Northern League.BUT saying that i hope that they will treat all of the Northern League clubs with respect because the Northern league is a good standered of Football and it also includes some ex Football league clubs from the 1930's and 1940's.Welcome to the Northern League Darlington and i must say that darlo's results will be one of the first results i will be looking for on a saturday night and all the best guys :)

 Cheers LOL. Although I'm gutted in one way about being in this league there are loads of local games to look forward to and I'll be doing most of the away ones, in fact a lot of away games are closer than the arena was to my house, also I only live 3 miles from Dean Street which is a bonus :)

DFCFreetransfer; reference your post about the FA cocking up. What exactly do you mean. Are you the club who failed to pay creditors claiming the money wasnt owed by yourselves but by the previous company? Then you appeal for leniency to the FA on the grounds you are not a new club....I reckon your creditors who are awaiting payment may just think the FA got it spot on right. There are so many conflicting versions in the press regarding the CVA that didnt happen, what is the real situation regarding "phoenix" club etc?

The real situation is that we are not a phoenix club.

We tried to do a deal with creditors but it was not possible, we are carrying on our commitment to pay the players that stayed with us, we raised substantial money in order to fund the club through the season after Singh pulled out, we would not die. By seeing the season out at our (the fans) cost, we avoided compromising the integrity of the BSP competition. We paid to buy the assets, naming rights of Darlington Football Club.

NONE of the above would have happened if we had folded in January, walked away, then came back now as a phoenix club, which is what the FA are trying to claim we are.

Agreed, we tried to do the right thing but unfortunately we were unable to pay a number of creditors, so now everyon suffers, charitis, local businesses and ourselves.
Punishing us will NOT give the money owed to these charities and businesses so why have the FA done it?--very bizarre
