BILLINGHAM TOWN v JARROW PREVIEW

Billingham Town face Jarrow for the second time within a month at Bedford Terrace. Despite dominating the Ernest Armstrong Cup tie, Jarrow took the honours with a late strike which now sees them travel to Northallerton in the next round. For Town, there are no further cup distractions and the squad will be focused on revenge after that defeat.

FOCUS ON JARROW:
Despite winning the said cup tie, Jarrow are not in good form. Last weeks heavy home defeat to West Allotment came as a surprise because West had endured an erratic spell of results beforehand. There has been some movement in the transfer scene since the cup tie. Kai Elliott left for Birtley and featured in Town’s emphatic four nil win last week. David Smith has come in from Washington while Harry Jewett signed from Seaham Red Star. There were a couple of notable omissions in the starting eleven that defeated Town. Striker Jonathan Higham and winger Jonathan Hurst didn’t travel down but if fit and available; they are likely to feature. Goalkeeper, Jak Wells had a phenomenal game in the cup tie and has impressed previously while at Bedlington Terriers. Jarrow have only lost twice away from home in the league this season.

ONE TO WATCH: JOHNNY WIGHTMAN
Former South Shields striker who scored the only goal in our recent Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup tie. Followed up that goal with a brace against Chester Le Street in the league. Physically strong and clearly still a handful in division two.

RECENT RESULTS:
Jarrow 2-7 West Allotment (Wightman, Hargrave)
Chester Le Street 3-3 Jarrow (Wightman 2, Toward)
Jarrow 0-4 Northallerton
BILLINGHAM TOWN 0-1 Jarrow (Wightman) - EA Memorial Cup
Jarrow 1-4 Thornaby (Mellish) - League Cup
Bedlington 0-1 Jarrow (Mellish)
Jarrow 0-3 Bishop Auckland - Durham Challenge Cup
Brandon 1-1 Jarrow (Collins)

Last Time In The League 2017/18: Billingham Town 6 Jarrow 1

TALKING TOWN:
Stephen Oakley continues to sit it out on the sidelines with no return date as of yet. Both Lee Moore and Craig Hutchinson are rated doubtful due to illness. Elliott Beddow is expected to return to action in a week’s time. Reece Kenney is yet to see any action since returning from his ankle break but could figure at some stage during the game. Kyle Morris who had a brief stint at Seaton Carew on loan has been released. Four keepers trained on Thursday night but for now Lewis McDonald and Oliver Simpson are vying for the number one shirt.
