BILLINGHAM TOWN v REDCAR ATHLETIC PREVIEW

Billingham face Redcar Athletic for the first time under the lights on Friday night. A win for the blues would extend their lead at the top and in turn, putting pressure on the sides below them who play the following Saturday afternoon. The squad were in an ebullient mood on Tuesday night during training after last weekends heroics and are raring to go!

FOCUS ON REDCAR:
After gaining promotion from the Wearside League, Redcar have struggled to make an impact in division two. They have won only once from eight games on the road which came recently at Esh Winning although they have strengthened the squad of late. Former Town striker Chris Dickinson has arrived from Northallerton and scored in the 4-4 draw against West Allotment. Chris can also take set pieces and corners. Mattie Crossen, another ex Town central defender could figure. Defenders David Abel and Stuart Browne have also had stints in blue shirts. Joel Callender played for Town while Darren Trotter was the manager. Elsewhere Adam Preston & Sam Calvert are the attacking threats while Will Lawrence will be the goalkeeper. Gary Wood is an experienced midfielder - better known for his playing days at Guisborough Town.

ONE TO WATCH: JORDAN RIVIS
Part of the squad that won the Wearside League title last season. Holding midfielder who seems to find time and space in central areas.

RECENT RESULTS:
Redcar 0-2 Northallerton - EAM Cup
Redcar 4-4 West Allotment (Calvert, Dickinson, og, Callender)
Chester Le Street 2-1 Redcar (Abel)
Redcar 2-2 Northallerton (G.Wood, Preston)
Esh Winning 1-2 Redcar (Carmichael, Preston)
Redcar 0-3 Bedlington
Heaton Stannington 3-1 Redcar (Calvert)
Brandon 1-0 Redcar

TALKING TOWN:
Former Town defender/midfielder Stephen Jackson has returned after leaving Northallerton recently. Stephen goes straight into the squad. Goalkeeper Lewis McDonald has now made the move from Marske United a permanent one having initially joined on loan. There will also be another new signing next week, in time for the Birtley fixture. Danny Maddison has joined Seaton Carew for a two month loan stint - following in Kyle Morris footsteps. Matty Hughes has crossed the A19 and joined Synthonia. On the injury front, Stephen Oakley continues to sit out on the sidelines. Matty Robinson will be pushing for a start after impressing against Willington.
