Anyone know why Consett get substantially better support on a Sat (last home games 424 v RCA, 424 v Stockton) than on a night match ( 160 v Silksworth, 161 v Northallerton) . I wasn't at last nights game but the attendance seemed right so no problem there, but do they do initiatives on a Sat, did RCA and Stockton bring coach loads of support, do the good people of Consett only venture out on Sat afternoon?

No doubt Consett is another Northern League success story and they look like they might win promotion

Not sure but their attendances when I have been have seemed massively over inflated. Not sure if they count in all 'customers' on a Saturday who use the facility as a whole i.e junior teams ect.

Whats to be gained by inflating attendance figures

Looks like almost every club had poor attendances for this week's midweek fixtures. Look at the crowd for Guisborough Town v Billingham Town which had a shockingly low 109 turning out to watch it. I thought that there would be over 200 as when Guisborough Town played us in the last round the attendance I believe was 146. Scratching my head over last night's attendance figure as it a good night to watch a football game. I myself was out at Redcar Town's ground watching Redcar Newmarket beat BEADS 4-2 in a North Riding League game. So where were the fans this midweek? Perhaps it's all about the League.

it does seem a bit strange that cup games attract fewer people through the gate :? :?

When Boro are playing at home certainly affects Teesside clubs.

Its only certain Clubs.

The good people of Whitby turned out to see Fishburn Park play Thornaby last week, the attendance was 240. I just wonder if the cup attendances are more realistic, and the big crowds for league games are some kind of "look how popular we are" exercise.

I dont know what other clubs do but we count all spectators including kids who go get in free . We have always thought that was the way it was done.

The 'midweek cups' for us have always attracted poorer crowds, but done better than usual for FA Vase/FA Cup games. The midweekers have little prestige and little money. Our Durham Cup game away to Gateshead saw half the team changed, and although not as many last night, were still quite a few missing. So not really a big surprise that these games don't pull in bigger crowds (although it did look like there was more than the 109 official attendance at Guis last night.

It is the way its done. However some Clubs have been known to include season tickets whether they are there or not, and Club members etc. :D

Personally I have no interest in watching the internal cup games or DCC games. I usually watch a game on a Wednesday as we play the majority of our midweekers on Tuesdays but find that most clubs field younger sides or make a host of changes so never bother with midweek cup games, no different to pro clubs. Supporters will sell out most Saturdays but have a fraction of the crowd there for league cup games or fa cup games.

Took in Willington V Esh last night Tony was saying he used it to give younger lads and new signing a start think he said 7 or 8 lads were 19 or younger he was saying league points a bit more important at minute :)
