GATESHEAD v BILLINGHAM TOWN PREVIEW

Town face Gateshead at the International stadium on Wednesday in this years edition of the Durham Challenge Cup. Although Gateshead could theoretically field their first team, they will in all likelihood select from their Academy squad.

FOCUS ON GATESHEAD:
Former Hartlepool United central defender Ben Clark is in charge of Gateshead’s burgeoning crop of youngsters. The under 19’s play in the Northern Alliance League and the majority of their home games are held at Gateshead’s college. After a slow start to their season, the ‘young heeds’ are in good form at home.

ONE TO WATCH: FINLEY HAYHURST
A recent acquisition from Australia. Scored in the recent 4-0 win over Wolviston in the Durham FA Trophy. On the fringes of the first team squad.

RECENT RESULTS
Gateshead 3-0 Red Row Welfare (League Cup)
Gateshead 4-2 Gateshead Rutherford (Northern Alliance)
Gateshead 2-2 Mansfield Town (Alliance League Cup)
Gateshead 4-0 Wolviston (Durham FA Trophy)
Shankhouse 3-2 Gateshead (Northern Alliance)
Burradon 1-5 Gateshead (League Cup)

TALKING TOWN:
The Town squad faces a busy fixture list in the coming weeks so Paul Edwards & Barry Oliver will make wholesale changes for this game. Danny Maddison, Matty Hughes and Kyle Morris could all start while Matty Robinson is now available after his suspension. There could be another arrival at the club in the next few days and he may be involved in this tie if the paperwork goes through. Jamie Davis is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season at Crook and Mark Dixon faces a three match suspension. Ash Lavan and Michael Duff will be assessed after both finished the Crook game looking worse for wear!
