The blues are back on their travels this Saturday afternoon against Crook Town who were the last team to defeat Billingham Town in the league. An end of season affair ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat and the visitors will need to avoid any sense of complacency against a team who are more than capable of creating an upset. Esh Winning, Durham City and Tow Law Town have all had their moments against Town but if Billingham are going to continue to pressure Chester Le Street and Thornaby then a win is required.

Although Crook are in the bottom half of the division, their home form has been quite impressive with only one defeat which came on the opening day of the season against Jarrow. Manager Jamie Tunstall, a former Billingham Synthonia defender in his playing days has engineered a good response from his players after a poor run of results, not helped in part by injuries. A 1-0 win over Chester Le Street emphasises that particular point. The squad contains two former Town players from our days in division one. Central defender Richie Gaston and Chris Dunwell who was with Stockton Town on their path to Wembley. Philip Pentonty once played in goal for Darlington as a sixteen year old while the Quakers were still in the football league. Nathan Stephenson and Joe Smith are two of the three main attacking threats but goals have dried up in recent weeks. The squad has taken a hammering with long term injuries for Callum Smith, Christian Holliday, Jonathan Hope, and Adam Comby.

Probably Crooks main creative spark with four goals to his name and the clubs top scorer to boot. Bagged the winner against promotion rivals Chester Le Street Town in their last home game.

West Allotment 1-0 Crook
Crook 1-0 Chester Le Street (Jarvie)
*Willington 1-1 Crook (Holliday) - EA Memorial Cup
Northallerton 3-0 Crook
Crook 3-3 Esh Winning (Caley, Holliday, Smith)
Crook 1-4 Ryhope (Lonsdale) - Durham Challenge Cup
Ashington 6-2 Crook (Lonsdale, Stephenson) - FA Vase
Billingham Synthonia 5-0 Crook
* Willington won on pens

Last Season: Crook Town 2 Billingham Town 1 (Kyle Morris scored the winning goal!)

On Monday, Town signed two goalkeepers because of injuries to both Oliver Simpson and Jack Patton. Former Thornaby man Michael Duff made his debut against his old club on Tuesday night while back-up Danny Rowe signed from Synthonia. Elsewhere in the squad, Matty Robinson will be available again after his three match suspension. With several of the squad returning to action, there will inevitably be several lads who won’t make the final sixteen or Barry Oliver & Paul Edwards could decide to rest players. Town have midweek games for the next three weeks - all of which are in cup competitions.
