BILLINGHAM TOWN v THORNABY PREVIEW

Town are back in action on Tuesday night against promotion and local rivals Thornaby. A win for Billingham would see them on the curtails of the league leaders with three games in hand. It will be fascinating to see how Town react to Saturday’s brave defeat to Dunston against a team who are extremely obdurate at the back. Town are unbeaten in their previous five encounters against Thornaby.

FOCUS ON THORNABY:
Manager Steven Bell has steadily built and improved the squad as the season has progressed. They have the best defensive record in the league and Bell has been supported by Chairman Apollo Ouedraogo with the wherewithal in an attempt to gain promotion. Paul Roddam and Jamie Poole both figured for Stockton Town and Whitby Town last season while Benjamin Jackson signed from Guisborough Town. Of course, the squad also features several familiar faces from their time at Billingham Town. Central midfielders Aaron Foley and Mattie Osmond could figure along with winger Lewis Murphy. Joe Posthill is an attacking right back from Stockton while Jordan Wilson won promotion with Billingham Synthonia, two seasons back. Kurtis Howes is their flair player on the wing while Kyran Clark can hold up play from the front. Unusually for a Northern League club, Thornaby have three useful goalkeepers. James Dawson, Liam Jordan and Adrian Beblowski.

ONE TO WATCH: JOE SCAIFE-WHEATLEY
Industrious central midfielder who is part of the engine room. Attributes include quick distribution to either the attacking full backs or the wingers. Joined Thornaby last season from Stockton Town and was a part of the Anchors promotion squad two seasons back.

RECENT RESULTS:
Thornaby 4-0 West Allotment (Howes, Poole, Roddam, Blake)
Chester Le Street 0-0 Thornaby
Thornaby 3-2 Northallerton (Simpson, Scaife-Wheatley, Clark)
Willington 2-0 Thornaby
Washington 0-3 Thornaby (Scaife-Wheatley, Blake, Murphy)
Thornaby 3-0 Bedlington (Howes, Murphy, Osmond)
Jarrow 1-0 Thornaby
Thackley 3-2 Thornaby (Wilson, Murphy) - FA Vase

Last Season: Billingham Town 0 Thornaby 0

TALKING TOWN:
Matty Robinson misses out on facing his former club as he completes his three match suspension and Oliver Simpson is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks with a sprained elbow. Joe Hillerby will be in the squad against the team he played for last season. With one keeper short, Barry Oliver & Paul Edwards have plans to bring in a new face by Monday. Mark Dixon and Ash Lavan both return having missed out on the Dunston game.
