Absolute walk in the park for Hebburn. Never had to get out the low gears, Disgraceful performance from a few idiotic away fans after the final whistle . Spoilt it for the majority of the Liverpool lads who made the trip and in the main were excellent.

Was that in reply to the Hillsborough chanting from the home end?

Crowd disturbances after the game according to a few accounts.
There’s no place for such nonsense in The Northern League my opinion.

Hebburn Town have released the following statement on their website:

I can honestly say I heard none of that being shouted . I was stood right on halfway and it was all fine until the final whistle . There was around 20 young lads from Liverpool I saw trying to climb the fence to get at some Hebburn fans so maybe it was then the Hillsborogh chanting was .
I know one thing it was definatly about 30- 40 idiots who caused the problem . All youngsters . There was plenty stewards and security imo. Don’t know what more Hebburn could have done.
Shame as apart from that it was a great game .

Sadly we are all at risk off atrracting the day tripper idiots who can embarass our clubs by acting like they are away from their parents for the first time. I agree there is nothing at all we as clubs or fans can do apart from challenging people when they present with idiotic behaviours

Start with your own club , we had a couple of issues when we lost out on promotion last season at your spot . I really liked going to Thornaby..and respected them as a club , but that changed my option . Bad craic

The Match
The lads played superbly yesterday and thoroughly deserved the victory, tremendous performance with 4 great goals and a contender for goal of the season from James Fairley

The Crowd
Magnificent support from locals as well as lots of neutrals, to see all four sides of the pitch bursting with support was emotional if i’m honest, a record breaking 1302 (a whopping 772 more than our previous record).

A great day overall but overshadowed by the idiotic few who wanted to spoil it and no matter what is said there were groups from both sides who weren’t interested in the football.

A club statement has been shared and we have learnt big big lessons through this, we want to put this to bed and behind us and move on to the next round and our next league game. This will not happen again that’s for sure.
