Here's my report from tonight's Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup First Round clash between Easington Colliery and Billingham Town where goals from Ash Lavan (x2) and Daniel Maddison helped Billingham Town to a 1-3 win.

Wow.... where do I start with this report?

To sum it short... Town won rather comfortably.

Even if it was a wrongly awarded throw in....you can still defend it rather than letting the ball bounce.

The equaliser...great finish but was way inside the box not from twenty yards

Easington never hit the crossbar....it was several inches over.

Luke hardly lashed out and one comment suggested he should have been sent off twice....bizarre!

No reference to several Town chances in the first half. One a superb save from the keeper and a glanced header that just went wide.

Second half was equal in terms of possession but it was Town who always looked the more dangerous.

You would think he was an Easington supporter or something  there’s something to be said for loosing with dignity and not trying to blame everyone else but the 11 men sat in the dressing room!

Thought Town always looked the more likely to win it. No mention of the corner awarded to Easington which was a definite goal kick just prior to the wrongly awarded throw in with the only difference being we defended properly and Easington defended poorly. First Town goal was a howler by Finch so stop apportioning blame elsewhere and look nearer to home for your loss.
As regards any kicking out if it is the coming together i witnessed i would have said it was more the other way ? Of course all is subjective but i would like to think that in the vast majority of games i see i look at them through a clear lens speaking honestly and not a pair of the rose tinted type.

Wow! I gave some genuine advice a couple of years ago to the lad and got lambasted for it. On this occasion I have no issues with him being biased in his reports on his team. I admit I find it difficult taking photos of the opposition scoring against my team. Have a look for yourselves on our website on my reports. However I do feel my written words in the reports are not biased. Connor's reports on games not involving Eastington Colliery are not biased so cut him some rope as all he's doing is upping his team slightly.

I do Easington reports from an Easington perspective - that's why they go on the Easington website.

Yes they're always going to be focused on Easington and slightly biased because I am doing them for Easington!

Like to think I'm totally neutral at other games, but Easington reports are also for their website so they're always Easington based.

As for Hogan, I think him quoting the tweet with: "grass" shows what we need to know - he did kick out

Connor....I can actually understand the biased bit... I honestly do....but you can’t make up a report with events that didn’t even happen... hitting the bar, scoring from twenty yards, our second goal coming from a cross and two bounces and then rifled home! If you are posting a report on non league zone then it has to have a degree of neutrality which I know can be quite difficult. The two separate incidents of Hogan lashing out...I was infromt of both and I can tell you the referee was close to it as well. Why didnt the ref see fit to caution him... because there was nothing in it!

I wasn't going to say anything on this thread but this comment is ridiculous. He was having a bit of craic on twitter, hardly an admittance of guilt. And if the incident you're referring to was the one in the first half, then it was the Easington player who clattered Luke then left his boot in well after the tackle. And as for blaming the men in black for the second goal, well that's simply embarrassing.

Fair enough about the 20 yards, I'll edit that

Sure it clipped the bar on its way over

First half, Hogan went down left wing, he had left Dan Martin so Dan pulled his shirt and conceded a foul. Hogan definitely went down and kicked out at Dan because of it.

I disagree. But your version of a lot of the events of last night's game are completely wrong, so I won't bother arguing anymore.

Connor keep writing, but I have learned a couple of things. If you don’t see something then don’t put something in.....you get caught out. Try and balance it when you can. We will agree to disagree on Luke..... officials is a tricky one....I’ve only done two reports where I felt the officials were suspect in their decision making. It’s not an easy job for them... but throw ins, corners, free kicks are not worth going into.... even penalties unless you believe 100% the ref has got it wrong.

Mike Snowdons neutral report now on the Northern League site. And a good one it is too.
