Benfield?
They've lost 5 out of their first 7.

Can't see Bishops making the top 5 in all honesty...

Yes they have, but who says they can't go on and win their next 7 out of 5?!

I do think North Shields are going to be up there as well. Dodgy start but they've benefited massively from the folding of Blyth AFC & have just signed Chris McDonald from Morpeth too.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. You could add West Auckland, Shildon, Sunderland RCA and Stockton Town into that mix, even Bishop Auckland could surprise a few this season. The beauty with this League is that most sides are capable of beating one another, which makes it really entertaining.
I think with sides having to take promotion, it opens the League up more for other sides, rather than having prolonged seasons of a few sides dominating the NL, as has often been the case in the past.

Agree with that, much more competitive league

I know it’s still early in the season. But if you look at which clubs are top of the NPL Prem & NPL1E. You can see that the top NL teams were a step or two below their natural positions. Hopefully most of those clubs mentioned will be promoted in 2 seasons time.

Totally agree and as far as I’m concerned that shows the system is flawed. When promoted it should be difficult in the league above, until you get settled, make improvements etc. At the minute it seems like they had a similar team playing in the NL

Several of us have known this for years. We were right. The lack of participation in the pyramid from the North East has flawed the whole system. Where are all the doubters now. I thought Morpeth were going to contest their promotion....are they still irritated with the enforced promotion ?

Nope, they’ve embraced it. The only thing that could’ve see demoted at the end of the season is failing to achieve a D Ground Grading. They’re actually developing their ground & I’m sure they’ll achieve a C Ground Grading, so they won’t be demoted if they’re promoted.
