BILLINGHAM TOWN v NORTHALLERTON TOWN PREVIEW

When the league fixtures were announced back in June, this was the stand out game during the early months of the season. Both clubs would have been considered as promotion candidates and already, the league table has a familiar look to it. So far, it’s Northallerton’s away form that has let them down and they will be looking to correct that particular aberration on the night.

FOCUS ON NORTHALLERTON:
Since relegation from division one, Town have never beaten Northallerton at Bedford Terrace and they haven’t faired much better at Ainderby Road either - only a 3-0 win back in March 2017 during the last six fixtures between the sides. There are no less than seven former Billingham Town lads in the squad. Tom Dawson, Stephen Jackson, Josh Keogh, Chris Dickinson, Danny Lambert, Richie Walker and of course Nicky Martin. The squad also contains several players who have been at the club for some time. Steve Cheeseman, Dan Jones, and Josh Knox are familiar names on the Northallerton team-sheet. Others to mention include winger Elliott McGlade and former Spennymoor Town midfielder Chris Emms.

ONE TO WATCH: KERRY HEDLEY
Nicky Martin leads the way with nine goals but fellow striker Kerry Hedley will also need to be taken care of! The summer acquisition has previously played for Jarrow Roofing & Marske United in division one and has four strikes to his name, three of them coming against Brandon.

RECENT RESULTS:
Willington 2-3 Northallerton (Emms, Martin, McGlade)
Northallerton 2-2 Willington (Martin, Dickinson) - FA Vase
Northallerton 3-0 West Allotment Celtic (Martin 2, Jackson)
Northallerton 4-0 Brandon (Hedley 3, Martin)
Chester Le Street 7-2 Northallerton (Martin, o.g)
Northallerton 0-4 Garforth (FA Cup)
Ryton 1-1 Northallerton (Knox)
Northallerton 6-1 Esh Winning (Martin 3, Hedley, Cheesman, Wilson)

TALKING TOWN:
Lee Moore and Matty Robinson will both be added to the squad that defeated Washington on Tuesday night. Luke Hogan and Reece Kenney are both on holiday while Elliott Beddow won’t be risked. Mark Dixon and Jamie Davis were initially rested in midweek but both were introduced at half time and will come into contention for a start. Jack Connor will pair up in midfield with either Matty Hughes or Joe Hillerby. Arthur Connelly, Dom Joynes and Dan Flounders will also push for a starting berth. Goalkeeper Oliver Simpson has kept two clean sheets in two games since signing from Thornaby.

OTHER INFO:
The Chester Le Street game that was originally pencilled in for next Saturday has now been rearranged for Saturday 29th December with a 3:00pm kick off time. That date was initially a blank weekend for Northern League clubs.

MATCH INFO:
Northern League Division Two
Friday 7th September, kick off 7:30 pm, Bedford Terrace
£5 Adults, £3 Concessions, Under 16s free.

Excellent write up.

It will all depend which Northallerton team turns up. On our day we can compete with anyone in Div 2, however the team that turned up against Chester-le- Street looked relegation candidates, although hopefully that was a one off.

I didn't tip Billy Town for promotion but you are showing early signs of intent. I am sure this will be a cracking game
