3pm kick off at Heritage Park tomorrow, FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round.

Aycliffe certainly have the knack of beating Bishops of late, only last week they were 1-0 winners in a league game at Moore Lane.

Winners of the tie are at home to either West Allotment or Yorkshire Amateurs in the 2nd Qualifying Round.

Have you changed its name from the Tin Pot, could be your year to add another tin pot with the other collection Bishops have

As long as you're still in the competition, it's a revered and coveted trophy.

It only reverts to the Tin Pot when you're knocked out of it.

:)

Chan loves a good tin pot so we must evolve!

Think the pitch will play it's part today as Bush showed playing on the plastic Weds night a flat surface suits their style Ayecliffes pitch was all long grass and bumps !

Bishops have won a lot of tin pots back in the days when all the best teams didnt play in it, spennymoor are among the list who didnt play in it, a bit like today, spennymoor dont play in it.

Here we go again!tell you what mind gayjane if love to of seen a league with just us to in it.you'd end up with the worst goal difference in the games history and possibly points total as you'd be deducted hundreds for raping every little out village of their clubs in order to try and compete!

Well a bit deflated after Bishops dominated for long spells...the opening 20 mins just for starters could of seen us 2 or 3 up. Winter in goal was inspired after his error for Bishops opening goal and set up both goals for his team and made a couple of superb saves.

Have to say we need to improve our finishing big time as some lovely football is short of ruthlessness in front of goal. However Cal Pattons 2 goals were worth the £6 alone.

Tuesday night's replay will be a scrap no doubt.

If you compare directly the finishing positions of Spenny United and Town Vs Bishops, you will find that when we have played in the same league structure (every year since Spenny first joined the northern league), Spenny have the best finishing position more often than not, even excluding the TOWN years.
Even before Spenny joined the northern league, we played semi pro while bishops played amateur football (well supposedly amateur). Note how the semi pro teams joining the northern league pretty much halted bishops dominance of the northern league.
Bishops have never been a bigger club than Spenny. Quoting amateur cup wins and NL titles from a long, long time ago when bishops were the biggest fish in a small pond is like saying Jim Bloggs is a better darts player than Phil Taylor because Jim Bloggs has won the county pub knockout 25 times. It's ridiculous.
Bishops tried to be a big club and failed miserably, plummeting down the leagues, ending up in a lifeless out of town stadium next to sainsburys and only escaping step 6 through a club taking promotion which is a bit ironic being saved from relegation by a flushed unflushable turd.
Good luck but as long as the club isn't thinking big, you won't be big. It's as simple as that. Here's to 100 years in the northern league, and hopefully 100 more.

I’m not to blame for turning this into a Bishops - TOWN debate but stats suggest Bishops way out in front of the Spennymoor ‘Franchises’:

MORE national FA competition titles
Better FA Cup record / best finish
Highest finish in the national pyramid system (2nd at step 2)

......and all the above without the club becoming defunct / death through lack of interest.

Debate over 8)

Back to Bishops v Aycliffe thank you.

Yep, you are right. You've done two things better in your entire history. For everything else, we have been better.

Back to Bishops Vs Aycliffe indeed :-)

The Spendymore United Town Evenwood mutations must be missing us if they have to hijack our game thread
