What a load of rubbish - and that is official.

I’ve heard it from two decent sources

Sources are closely related to rumors. Club official has said merger isn't happening. So that's the rumor stopped.

They are spectacularly wrong. My source is our chairman.

Was the club approached, after it failed to submit the FA charter thing & were threatened with demotion?

I have no idea on that, even if it was, there is no truth in any merger story. End of.

If they were approached! Then surely the story is true? It’s irrelevant if they turned it down flat!

According to the Blyth program the owner has invested half a million quid in the club, surely that's to be applauded.

Even if they were approached and turned down flat, then the rumour is pointless as it implies that they were in discussions about the possibility.

Fair enough but where has it been invested? No ground and from some of the comments on here not even a club. If he has put 500K in he wants to be looking for the plughole it has gone down

Why not put it in Spartans and get them in the Conference.

I suspect the Spartans have found their right level - maybe a money man could take them higher, but would it really be sustainable given all clubs are full-time professional (well maybe not Gateshead next season)?

Conflict of interest too,Blyth AFC owner is the main shirt sponsor for bedlington.not about merger though, his club have gained promotion against the rules, shouldn't have started the season.blyth town should have.

There were noises that he wanted to buy in at Blyth a few years ago, before he get involved at Blyth Town. For whatever reason, that didn't happen. But given the shenanigans with the ground at South Newsham, splitting up into two clubs and now the move to Ashington, I'm delighted he never got near the Spartans.

There is no way he could have spent half a million quid. On what, an NL2 budget for a few seasons?

What a load of manure!

The drainage is one of the best in the league. We've often been able to get games on when others in the vacinity have had to call theirs off.

I do wonder about how much damage will be done by having another team playing their games on it however. And the whole Blyth AFC set up looks odd to say the least.

Like I said, Hoopy... sometimes it can be a problem. It's certainly been a lot better since the work that was done on it last summer.

However my other point still stands, I'd be concerned about the pitch with all the games to be played on it.
