Richie has to be applauded big style for all his hard work, dedication, and money over the years, but I can't help but think that it smacks of " taking my ball home ".

For whatever reason I can't access the newspaper article ( don't know why ) so if he's explored all avenue's to pass the club on to others I apologize, but if he hasn't then I think it's actually quite petty.

Definitely not a case of ‘relegated so I’m off in a huff’.

Those close enough know that it’s simply a time thing. Clue is in the word ‘retirement’.

Re passing the club on: you know how hard it is to simply survive these days, let alone pass a non-league club on...?

What happens with the relegation and promotion problem now then?

Fine fine fine! Typical NLZ fashion to start crying about things. Some people must really have been bored by their Jeremy Kyle repeats. Just wait to see what happens instead of bleating on.

Exactly! Richie didn't take on an existing club, he built Roofing up from nothing and ran it almost single handedly for three decades. Given the difficulty of even getting people to join committees nowadays, I think it's highly unlikely there'll be another situation like this ever again. Some people just like harping on...

A sad day.
Whether you like the fella or not what he’s done the last 30odd years is extraordinary.
All the best to the fella in his retirement, it’ll seem strange him and his club not being there.

He’ll still be there most Saturdays. His retirement is travelling the Northern League grounds with Jan when he can.

My personal opinion of Richie is he is probably a victim of his own standards....he a nice guy and if you were in trouble would be there 1/2 hr after you rang him.....I think he’s not had this back from his players for a good few years and when you aren’t enjoying it, why bother?? I dare say he’s invested £100.000’s over the years, if not into 7 figures....and for what? A bunch of mercenaries (over the years) that have took his money and given saunter all back.

Sad day Indeed

Extremely sad to see, loved visiting the place.

Does appear to be a missed opportunity, considering that Boldon CA were pushing to get into the Nl, surely something could have been worked out?
