Can't knock Richie's hard work and dedication to football over the decades. Good luck to him for the future and hope he enjoys his well earned retirement!

Sad to see - I reckon Roofing and Boldon CA should of got their heads together and merged. Combine resources, any fan base they have and finances. Have the grounds to build something in the future to generate cash flow long term.

Even if it meant Wearside League for a season or two and work up the pyramid.

A spokesman for the Ebac Northern League said:

"It's sad to lose any club, and it’s even harder to lose one where someone like Richie McLoughlin has put so much hard work in over many years to build the club up from scratch and keep it going in what have often been very difficult times for many clubs at this level.

"We would like to thank everyone involved and wish them all the best for the future."

Looks like a fine will be applied.

From the Northern League Handbook:

15. WITHDRAWAL OF CLUBS
A Club must notify the Company not later than 31st March each year of its intention to withdraw from the Competition at the
end of that Playing Season. Failure to do so will make a Club liable to a fine.

15. Failure to give notice of resignation by due date £2,000

I stand to be corrected but I believe the fine gets shared between all registered officials and players at the club if not paid.

In the circumstances, I think this would be extremely petty.

It will apply

I don't think the League Management Committee have a choice. The rules are there in black and white whether they agree with them or not.

They do have a choice. Any amount of times you read on here about clubs breaking rules doing this and that and nothing ever comes of it. Be very harsh if they fine the longest consecutive manager owner secretary groundsman president ball boy tea maker the list goes on.

A sad day but one that was always going to come.

There was always going to be a time when Richie decided that the 5am sorting of the pitch, then a full day of graft and getting home at 11pm after a midweek game, or training at 9pm or whenever needed to stop.

He’s earned his free time that he now has; earned countless times over. A great servant to football, South Tyneside and the Northern League.
