We're having one at 10:00.....

Weather been 'ok' for a couple of days, but rain forecast again for Saturday morning.

Anyone that knows our pitch knows that it doesn't handle rain well.

Has the league yet again allowed Clubs to call off games 24 hours early. Some weeks it make sense but sure with this wind and sunshine, pitches are drying out nicely .

Take a brave ref to cancel a game 24 hours early

This is from the league secretary's instructions to clubs sent out this morning

Quote:
No postponements will however be accepted before 10.00 am on the day of the game.

Whilst I understand there has been very bad weather I think this missive from the league is a little bit generous considering we have had two good drying days. I understand there may be a little rain tomorrow morning there is not a deluge forecast. I thnk maybe postponements tomorrow should have been a referee inspection decision

That's what the league is saying, no postponements until 10am tomorrow, and that will need a Ref. Or am I reading this wrong ?

No. Clubs can postpone after 10am tomorrow without inspection by a ref. IMHO I think that is a generous decision by the league although on the other hand I suspect clubs just want games played now. Although again if you are in a relegation or promotion scrap and have a few missing ........ just saying

In fairness, you've got to trust the locals to know their pitch too. The lads who put hours upon hours into looking after their ground will know if a pitch has got a chance or not. I've no issue with early postponements - especially if it allows clubs to arrange friendlies or training and to book facilities.
