Re: APPLICATION TO EXTEND SEASON

Marske have to play twelve different teams, some twice, before the end of the season. Most of the teams are not involved in promotion or relegation whereas Marske is. So most of those said teams can play any team except Marske in the latter three days of the extended period of five days? I have to say that I am totally confused and I can't see how this decision will be applied :?

Of course, I am quite elderly and become easily confused

So taking Marske's fixtures as an example, does this mean they have to complete all their fixtures by May 7th? The extra two days in the grand scheme of things does nothing much to help the backlog situation.

At least the FA made the decision early, they were not due to meet till April 10th

This is how the North West Counties League sees their situation:

With the top seven sides still in contention for a promotion place in our Premier Division, and up to 13 sides still in relegation battle this season, and the top 10 sides in the First Division all in contention for automatic or play off places, it is likely that the League will be unable to schedule many matches beyond 7 May.

1 of the days is obviously a Sunday, players probably with their Sunday League teams.
In effect it is a 1 day extension.
Also, until its a mathematical impossibility, all games are promotion/relegation issues.
Even the points per game scenario for the top 2 impacts on promotion issues in other leagues around the pyramid.

The F.A. rules state that the 13th & 14th best 2nd placed sides on a ppg basis, will be promoted before any reprieves. With Shortwood & Thurrock folding/resigning! Then all 28 1st & 2nd placed teams will be promoted. Also the Ossett merger will create an extra promotion spot determined by the F.A.L.C. This could go to the best 3rd placed side on a ppg basis. This is currently Pickering Town from the NCEL Prem. But the F.A.L.C. could decide to promote any club that they deem suitable. This could be the 3rd placed NL1 side or even the F.A. Vase winner for instance. Only when they meet, will the determine which club is the lucky team!

How do you drain a foot of snow?

Yep the beast from the east was a killer, But it hasn't snowed all of the time, Hope your not using the snow as an excuse for ALL of the Postponments????.

Professional clubs have had games postponed this season for waterlogged pitches. The Burton Vs Middlesbrough game was almost called off the other week due to a waterlogged pitch and that's a championship club.
All the money in the world cannot prevent the rain from falling and I've yet to see a non league team in the country play games under a roof.

Exactly, but there's always one isn't there

Does the top few positions in Division 2 determine whether a club gains entry to the next seasons FA Cup. Yet another decision by the powers that be that knows sweet FA about grass roots football.

This is the current division 1 table with an extra column showing each club's possible points total. From this it is possible to see that, for instance, Marske could guarantee a promotion place by winning the next nine matches. Would it not, at that point, be feasible for Marske to expect the longer extension ie to May 12, as they are no longer in a "promotion issue"? The permutations are multitudinous.

Morpeth could be promoted tomorrow, if they win & West Auckland & Shildon fail to!

Or you in this instance , when you fill your clubs application out for the FA completions it states that the top 4 teams in the second division qualify for next seasons FA cup

Windy you are normally quite informative but how the hell could or would they promote the FA Vase winner , what if a second division team had won it ?

Richie, I think Windy's comment was just a bit "tongue in cheek", implying that the FA could and would do whatever it deemed fit, regardless of logic. At least that's how I read it.

The F.A. rules & regs are as follows: The LC will determine additional criteria to fill any vacancies that occur. The Clubs to be promoted from Step 5 will be allocated to the most geographically appropriate division at Step 4.
So this basically allows the League Committee to do what they want!
