RA manager steps down

Peter Mulcaster has stepped down as manager of Darlington RA.

Club secretary Alan Hamilton said: 'It is with regret that I have to announce that Peter Mulcaster is no longer the manager of Darlington RA. Despite the fact that results this season have been indifferent, Peter has retained the confidence of the Club's committee and there has been no internal pressure on him to go. Peter has felt however that the time is now right for a change and his decision to step down was made a few days ago. Notwithstanding this, Peter kindly agreed to take the team at league leaders Northallerton Town last night and he said his farewells to the players after the game.'

Club chairman Doug Hawman said: 'I would like to place on record my thanks to Peter Mulcaster for his efforts over the past season and a half. He has worked hard, with little or no financial resource and it has been a pleasure to work alongside him. I wish him all the luck in the world with whatever he decides to do now,'.

Assistant manager and coaches, Michael Colman, Martin Mulcaster and Mark Wheldon will be in charge of the team for the next week or so pending a decision as to who will replace Peter Mulcaster on a permanent basis going forward.

I was a little surprised Mully decided to quit . Having played them twice they seem to be in a false position. Town were lucky to get a win at their spot, and they played with 10 men for 80 mins . Last night RA were winning 0-1 and were reduced to 10 men again after we scored . They also signed 3 players from Town that were very well thought of in Sims, Reaks and Danny Mac

Best of luck, Peter.
