What effect will Jarrow roofing folding have on this?

They’ll be nominally placed bottom of NL2

Surely they have to promote Newcastle Univ or Birtley Town from the Northern Alliance as well as one from the Wearside League

The F.A. have stated that they’ll look at lateral movements this season before relegation. So that’s why Mike Amos keeps bringing up the possibility of Penrith to the NWCL on his blog.
I personally think it’s doubtful that they will be laterally transferred though. You can add the Northern Alliance promoted club to the mix. So the bottom 2 NL2 should be relegated. But if Northallerton misses out on promotion, then they may be the team that gets laterally transferred & that’ll be to the NCEL1.

in that case two relegated from div two..then alliance champs to join redcar in div two.

Redcar will need 4 points from the final two games. Or they’ll probably miss out!

The F.A. has stated that lateral transfers will be used(if possible)before any relegations.
Jarrow Roofing will be nominally placed bottom of NL2. So the F.A. are well within there rights to laterally transfer a team & save Darlington RA

Here is the problem I see with any lateral transfer from the NL, basically it means would Penrith be moved to NWCL. The knock on effect is there would be no way then that you could justify Windscale and Cleator Moor remaining in the Wearside League and that league is getting very short of clubs, having lost Prudhoe this year. If they lose too many then they could lose their Step 7 status and the FA are not going to force that on them.

However people are going to have to get their head around the idea that the NL boundary is going to move southwards and likely get NCEL clubs moved into it, as with cumpolsory promotion, the NL will keep promoting but likely that the NWCL and NCEL will keep getting the relegated clubs from the Evostick because they will be a better geographic fit. I certainly dont see Nothallerton being moved out, more likely that they would look to move Knaresborough Harrogate RA in.

Quite- the boundaries lie where the clubs do!

We really could have done with the FA creating the 8th Step 4 league in the North rather than putting a 2 year delay to see how the rest of the restructure goes. That 8th division would most likely cover the Tweed to Humber region, a much more sensible increase in mileage for those promoted clubs

The F.A. are aiming to create a new step 7 league covering Cumbria. What the timescale will be is another matter. The Wearside league can run with 14-16 clubs, to sustain step 7 status & the merger with the Durham Alliance helps this.
The F.A. are demoting all clubs around the country that have failed to achieve the G grading at step 6. This coincides with the reduction of leagues down to a maximum of 20 clubs. The F.A. states that there will be extra relegations this season, but they will look at laterally transferring clubs rather than relegating those extra clubs. The NWCL & NCEL will have extra clubs to transfer or relegate. The creation of the new step 6 league in the NWCL has opened up the option to laterally transfer clubs from the neighbouring leagues & this is expected. That’s why Northallerton could be laterally transferred. If they are transferred, then they may be transferred back at some point. Because of the reasons that you have mentioned. Although I can see all 3 feeder leagues promoting clubs next season & possibly the next few seasons. So this may mean that they’d struggle to be laterally transferred until there’s a space for them.

The F.A. wants to create 2 more step 5 leagues & this is why I think there’s a delay.

Newcastle University won the title last night and will be presumably plying their trade in the Northern League next season, looking forward to finding out where they'll be playing their games.
