Another way to look at it , your relegated until your told you've been reprieved. I think that's how it works anyway it's just people read it the other way around .

The issue is, does anyone know what constitutes the ‘relegation zone’? As far as I’m aware, the FA only said that relegations, would only be determined by the promotions, relegations, lateral movements & nothing to do with positions. Although the FA usually relegates the bottom placed team, come what may. But sometimes they place teams that fold or resign as the bottom placed team. So they may relegate none or numerous teams.

Both Divisions need to have 20 teams for next season.

2 have been promoted from NL 1. = 20 Teams
3 Will be relegated to D2 (Roofing, Washington & Billingham Syn).
3 Promoted from D2 to D 1 (Blyth, Hebburn & Whickham).

This will leave D2 with 21 teams.

Roofing has resigned from the league leaving 20 teams.

Relegation from D2 always depends on if a club from a feeder league has an application for promotion accepted. They need to meet club and ground criteria, this is decided by the League FA.

All correct and both the Wearside and Alliance have teams that finished in a promotion place that passed the ground grading, which would then suggest 2 down. What no one knows though, is whether the FA will latterally transfer teams from NL to other leagues. Northallerton and Penrith are the obvious choices mentioned here, and if both were moved, that would reprieve all NL2 clubs

Not quite correct chinny.
The fa rules state that at least the bottom placed club must be relegated which means Alnwick most certainly go down so that would leave one more promotion place .

That’s not always the case. If the league is short of clubs & there’s space for the bottom placed club then they’ll be reprieved. I’m sure there’ll be a few bottom placed step 6 sides that won’t be relegated this season. Also teams that fold or resign are usually placed in bottom position. This isn’t always the case, but if the FA wanted to place Jarrow Roofing bottom of the NL1 & NL2 then they could easily do this. But personally I think Alnwick will be relegated no matter what.

Ah right, was it not broadcast that no matter what the bottom placed team in all step 6 leagues would be relegated. ?

I’ve spoken to the United Counties League Secretary & he told me that they don’t expect Stewart’s & Lloyds who finished bottom of there step 6 league will not be relegated to step 7. Two other teams are resigning or folding from that league & will be placed in the bottom two places.

Does anybody know what date this will be resolved by the FA?

As div 1 stands following the respective promotions (x2) and relegations (x3) there are 20 teams in the division.
As someone above also states with 3 moving up from div 2 and Jarrow Roofing folding there are also 20 teams at present in division 2 which is where the FA want it to be.

The issue is the pending promotions from Wearside and/or Northern Alliance into NL Div 2 which logic dictates will affect the number of clubs relegated from div 2......the BUT being if the FA decide to laterally move anybody out of the Northern League altogether (talk of Penrith and Northallerton from what I have read but neither club seems to have commented on this).

So for example what happens if Penrith were moved out.....down to 19 teams in div 1.....does that mean 3rd bottom team of div 1 does not get relegated or will the 4th placed team in div 2 also be promoted? And the 3rd bottom team happens to be Jarrow Roofing by the way just to further complicate matters. In which case 2nd bottom team (washington) could get a reprieve??

From what I have read there is no lateral movement at steps 5 and 6.
I could be wrong.

The FA are informing the clubs who have applied for promotion to step 6 this week. They are meeting tomorrow so should find out tomorrow or Thursday.

From what I know, Northallerton have not heard anything official regards a lateral move, and with Jarrow folding I assume this is even less likely.

If we were moved to the NCEL we would have to travel similar distances to those promoted to the Evostick, with a fraction of the resources.

I would definitely prefer to stay where we are
