Without diving into it too far, hypothetically it would be interesting next season what the position would be on ticket sales if it were say South Shields versus Colwyn Bay in a league cup final.

We dont even know that, the only information we have is from the statement which stated both clubs refused to sell tickets, and speaking to folk at mariners park, they are categorically denying this, so someone is not puting the whole truth out there.
My guess would be that north shields complained to the league about having to pay staff for selling tickets and someone at the league has thrown their toys out the pram and took all tickets off both teams and gave it to whitley bay to sort out along with some money for staffing.
Which, if true is a strange one, as why not just give the staffing money to both clubs to help with sales?

Tickets sold in both clubs, with the ground being somewhere as near middle as possible, that would be ideal, well wembley would suit me haha, but that wont happen.

Worst case would be venue right next to colwyn bay, and tickets only available from there as well.

Id be interested in how the gate is split in the next league up.

If it had been £10 per ticket, with the match held in gateshead, then i doubt many would moan, what people are unhappy about is the tickets being easier and cheaper for one team to buy than the other.

Name a more suitable venue that is close enough to both clubs and has 2 covered stands, can hold a crowd of around 3000. Please dont say Gateshead which has Zero atmosphere and you are a 100 yards from the pitch. Christ 2 ways through the tunnel is £3.40. Probably less than a McDonalds

The fact that its being played at whitley bay was amminor annoyance at the time as it was a bit of a jorney to ss, but next door to ns, but it was just that, a minor annoyance, we could still buy tickets at mariners park, now they have compounded it by having the tickets only on sale at the "neutral" ground, a rather silly, knee jerk decision imo.
Its a stitch up as far as i can see.

"its a bit of a journey to ss" It takes about 15 mins tops.

Try following a Club in rural North Yorkshire. With our EA Cup final at Billingham. Stockton have 3 miles to travel we have 21...do we care , not one bit. A day out for us. It seems this ticket issue is down to the tremendous support South Shields suddenly have. A problem over 700 Clubs at step 5,6 & 7 (save Hereford) wish they had.

Look on the bright side... not too long ago you had to drive 40 minutes for a home game, never mind 20 minutes for a cup final!

Exactly. Them 20 fans didn't moan then, so why should the 700 moan now!

The main surprise and dismay from the clubs' point of view has been over the suggestion that they both refused to sell tickets.
Anyhow, I understand both clubs WILL be selling tickets for the final.
Expect a fresh announcement soon.

Well I hope a bit of common sense, be it from the League, or the two clubs involved prevails.

I accept what you say, but I know of a fan and his daughter who travel up from Leeds for home games. Hardly fair on him. Postal tickets could have been half a soloution.

Looks like the league has backtracked, tickets on sale at both clubhouses, details to follow from the league.
Shambles.

So the league statement came as a surprise to both clubs? That being the case, it's shoddy communication from the league.
