So we knew we would lose some fans and budgeted accordingly. The fact that we underestimated how many fans would stick with the club is not a bad thing. After all, how many NL teams could lose 200 regulars and not struggle?

True. And, I mean, how dare they state the facts on Darlo Uncovered! I'm glad Symposium rightly pulled Darlofan97 up for that and deemed the post not sensible.

Lets not bring me into your debate and no I didnt.

There wouldn't be someone on here spouting drivel under somebody else's name on here, would there Symposium?

You are right, although I am not sure what your point is?

Is that aimed at me or Symposium?

I'm guessing Symposium after he spat his dummy out after his team got spanked 3-1.

No I was just making a point that if you have 1000 crowds you can afford to be successful at this level.
If you have a number of sponsors who raise money or a rich benefactor you will do ok.

If any of these desert you, then you will struggle.

Until the FA make promotion mandatory the league will be isolated out on a limb.

Promotion from northern league should have been made mandatory years ago then the league would not have been on a limb. Seems like the league has missed the boat several times due to new league re-structureing because promotion aint been mandatory

in terms of Darlo we have a number of sponsors that have stuck with us or returned to us since we re-established ourselves at this level, we have an incredibly loyal set of supporters that have been through an absolute nighmare experience that would test the most ardent supporter and stuck by us so it would be strange for them to walk now? We don't have a rich benefactor though so do not have that to lose so.

You are talking of an experience we have been through, learnt from and have no intention of repeating so am not sure who you are focusing that thought on given we are the only club attracting 1,000 attendances regularly at this level?

I don't agree with mandatory promotion. Clubs should be allowed to find their level and stay there. Too many clubs get obsessed with progression then hit financial trouble. There are also a whole load of silly rules about grounds, which aren't always interpreted the same way, and could cost clubs money out of all proportion to their likely crowds.

I would be less against it if the structure made more sense but increasingly its getting more and more South East/ Midlands biaised. Frankly once you have teams from Oxford playing in "the North" and the "Northern" Premier League extending to just north of Birmingham its not surprising teams are reluctant and rightly so. There may be historic reasons for the lack of North East teams in the NPL but thats precisely what they are...history. If you look at the structure objectively it cries out for a Midlands leg at Step 4. The moment you did that the footprint of the NPL would shift about 50 miles North which would make one hell of a difference. It would also do the same for the Southern League which itself is full of Midlands teams, whereas a South London club can get all the way into Conference South without travelling further than the odd game at Lowestoft. (I am exaggerating but its not far from the truth).

  .....ok then, so thats not a problem. These teams should then not be 'competing' in a pyramid system! Maybe the Auckland District league or the Crook & District league would be more suited to them.

Well yes logically it will if no North East teams dare take that extra step up. Things have to be balanced out somehow!

Surely that's not finding your level if you refuse promotion year after year?

Nice image Neil; very mature.

Great moderating it has to be said. What better way to play down the facts?

 chill, it's a joke. After the abuse the admins have had off some Darlo fans, you can hardly blame them for not being sympathetic to their complaints?
