Whats happening at Alnwick Town FC ?, This time last season on August 25th 2011, They topped Division 2, having played 4 won 3 Drew 1, lost 0. goals for 7, against 4. league points 10. The Managers must be amiss to the very bad start to the season, especially as they have still not scored a goal this season after 4 league games in which goal diff of -12. Then beaten 5-0 by Consett in F.A Vase yesterday.

To be fair they have played 3 of the division's title favourites so far in Morpeth, Northallerton and Tow Law and there will be easier games to come. Last season they over-achieved at the start of the season and possibly under-achieved towards the end. Despite a slow start this season I'm sure things will balance themselves out in due course. It's still early days.

Alnwick just can't hit the back off the net. In every game bar the tow law game they had more chances than the other team. Diffrents is the other teams took there chances, on saturday with in the 1st 20mins they had 3 one on ones. Against Morpeth we played them off the park but couldn't not score, but like the saying goes your only as good as your strikers!

We don't pay players so when we find a good striker it's hard to keep them at club... But we have a good bunch of lads that will stick together and it will come good soon..

I'm sure the points and goals will come soon enough.

There have been chances created, just not taken. Hopefully (tomorrow night) our first shot on goal will be a screamer from 2 yards out and take a couple of deflections on the way in. Once the monkey is off the back, I'm sure that the goals will start again.

All credit to the Alnwick town players not being paid. But do you think it may hinder the club's chances in trying to bring in any new players from other clubs as they will be used to being paid. ?

I think Alan Jest is a frustrated Alnwick Town striking substitute.

4-1 the night to Alnwick... The club is trying to do things right by bringing juniors in to the 1st team. We have 3 senior teams and 10 junior teams and by bringing in the juniors we don't have to pay players... But it's keeping young players that is the problem but we will sort this out soon.. Clubs finished below us that paid players last season and will be the same this season we just want to give young local lads the chance to play a high standard of football at a low cost.

Good to see Town pick up some points on the board and its far too early to start pressing the panic alarm just yet.

Alnwick haven't paid money for years. Good on them for sticking to their guns and getting their priorities in order and sticking with the local lads. Always look out for their results and hopefully that's the start of a turnaround of fortunes.

I used to be involved in the game up in that area a good few years ago. There's a good catchment area up there right up to the Borders and around the Amble area too where you can offer players Northern League football without any competition apart from the odd Northern Alliance club. The biggest problem used to always be that some youngsters simply just don't fancy the commitment or the travelling and would rather play with their mates in the NNL

Problem in the past certainly when I was up that way was the 'old guard' never encouraged the up-and-coming youngsters to come the club and a good few kids bypassed the club and headed South. Their attitude was "don't ask us we'll ask you if we think your good enough" and that frightened a few off. Albert Straughan & Dougie McEwan did a good job turning things around. Dougie certainly knew the local scene like the back of his hand and had good knowledge of the better players available in the North Northumberland League to make the step up.

As above, it's not easy getting lads to commit to the travel (Whitehaven and others across the west coast must have the same issues).

You can't get any further up really without playing in the Scottish League!

What a difference in the clubhouse afterwards. Amazing what goals do to morale!

I'm sure it does give a lift, but it seems short-lived on present form.
Sorry to see Alnwick lose again without scoring, especially since Stokesley had a very good win yesterday.
:(

Just another one of those days yesterday. Chances created but just couldn't convert them. Spent the majority of the 2nd half in Darlington's box, their 2nd coming on the break.

Keep the faith! :)

Our keeper made one save. Atfc had plenty of possesion but did nothing with it .
Your two left sided players , winger n full back had shockers.

Read the report on your own forum (which I agree with). It was one way traffic in the 2nd half but we couldn't put the ball away.

If you were at the game I'd be interested to know your opinion on the booking for Huscroft. Do you think it should have been a red card, or was a booking enough?
