They're getting funds from somewhere. The calibre of players signed this season does not point to £50 a match...

Lots of TV coverage in the last last year or so tells you that it's an American billionaire called Robert Rich aka Lord Bedlington (they have his name on their shirts). He famously bought the team the scoreboard, which they then tested out on Stokesley.

The team get to play a friendly in the US every year, apparently.

You couldn't make it up!!!

The rest of the Northern League need to look out for them. I was at the game yesterday - they were good last year, but they were even better this year. No complaints about the result as they thoroughly deserved it and played well individually and as a team (even without Shandran), but teams like this with benefactors need to go up if they win the league, or else we will get issues with players wages at this level.

Still, it's not like we have to play them again, soon ... oh, wait ... we've got them again on Saturday!!

Wrong on so many levels.

It doesn't seem to be getting through that Bob Rich is not funding the team. The novelty of the trip to the US has worn off. This team is the result of a lot of hard work by a very good chairman and a hard working and loyal band of good people. Long may the success continue.

It's not sustainable though, is it?

Don't they usually have a clear-out come Christmas anyway?

Heard a few people say that when I first started reading this forum a few months ago.

Flynn and Campbell were the only high profile departures at the mid point of last season I think. Flynn apparently got offered more money and Campbell spat his dummy out. So I don't exactly think that would be classed as a clear out.

Couple of decent wins and the mud slinging starts...

Bed Sec here. Point A, where we find our funds is through sheer hard graft, hence me working 7 hours today, unpaid on a bank holiday Sunday.
Point B, Bob sponsers the shirts, anything else =Zilch.
Guess, speculate all you want guys, unless you are privy to Bedlingtons board you will just continue to play a guessing game.
Have fun. :D

Bob's shirt sponsorship must be pretty good then because I can't see the likes of Ferrell, Gate, Baxter, Brayson joining for pennies.

Sorry England, you are one of the minority who does understand. I was replying to the vast majority who are uninformed and prefer to not believe the truth.

But why would people want to consider the truth when they can speculate and make things up.....
