One win in four trips for us Mossy, 2-0 in the season we won promotion. We've had a 0-1 reverse, a 0-4 thumping in the cup and last season's 1-3.

You've signed the Dangerous One who has a hex on us, although he barely got a kick for Billy Town last season when we won 5-0 - so he'll be looking to avenge that.

We were fantastic for an hour in getting knocked out of the cup on Tuesday, and had we scored the penalty instead of missing it on 60 minutes, we'd have won 3-0, not lost 0-3!

Should be the usual good following coming down from here, I think I heard that there was a bus full (33) of supporters but don't quote me. There will of course be the usual lot in cars too. I'd say we'll bring 50-60 with us if that bus comes.

Sounds like we should have a decent crowd on Saturday. We have sold double the number of season tickets we sold last season and had a healthy crowd of 160 for the FA Cup game on Saturday (especially given Stokesley appeared to bring virtually no fans). The weather forecast is decent so the crowd could be around the 200 mark hopefully.

Regrettably work committments will prevent me from attending this game. Wish the lads the best of luck and hope we can start the season with 3 points.

See you all on 25th v Team Northumbria.

GOOD LUCK lads.

This was a tough, close game that Marske arguably just edged. Porritt had a decent game on debut and his goal was excellent (well captured by Mr MJ and now on youtube). Once again, the defence was excellent, Allison made one crucial, brilliant save just before half time, Tom and Leon look like an excellent centre back pairing and Adam and Ryan also had decent games.

Very interesting that the Aycliffe report refers to Porritt as lazy which is bang out of order. He was involved throughout, showed some class skills and put in a number of decent crosses as well as having a number of attempts on goal.

It was also positive to see another decent crowd at the GER giving the team constant support throughout.

The only minus point was the early injury to Charlo who must be doubtful for Tuesday's big game vs Darlo.

Spot on Mark.

A hard-fought, close game that could've gone either way. I'm sure Aycliffe will feel they should've had a point but you always got the feeling one goal was going to decide it.

We started very well and had two great chances in the first six minutes. First, Porritt rose above the defence but his header came crashing back off the bar. A couple of minutes later, Bruno's shot from the edge of the box was tipped over by the keeper.

Bruno came close again later in the half when he got his head to a corner whipped in from the right, but his header went over the bar

As the half went on, Aycliffe found their feet and started to threaten and their best chance came just before half time, when a corner was headed onto the post (possibly by Bruno?) and when the ball was fed back in, Allison produced a great reaction save that Lips would be proud of.

Aycliffe were enjoying more of the play in the second half but for the second week in a row, the Marske defence stayed strong and offered little in the way of chances.

The game seemed to be heading for a goalless draw but sparked back into life in the last 15 minutes. Millington burst through the Aycliffe defence after some good work by Onions and saw his shot saved by the keeper.

Just a couple of minutes later Porritt broke away down the left flank. He had Onions waiting in the centre but opted to go it alone, cutting in onto his right foot and firing past the keeper to give Marske the lead and send the home fans into a frenzy. (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5wjHRF7sB4)

Aycliffe pushed for an equaliser, with the keeper even going up for a corner at the end of the game but they couldn't find a way through and Marske came away with the points.

Same result as last week but an improved performance against a good side. Don't understand why there was so much negativity last week after just one game. Two games, two wins, two clean sheets and with the players we've got to come in, I don't think we've seen our strongest XI yet. But as I said last week, you need to have a squad and everyone in the squad is going to play an important part at some point during the season, even if they're not playing every week.
