Probably a fair result in a game where we were made to pay for a slow start that saw us 2-0 down inside 11 minutes.

The first came on 5 minutes, when Moore ghosted in unmarked to nod home a corner.

Just five minutes later, Donachie's man got past him, and he slid in, conceding the penalty. Sonny Andrews stepped up and casually slotted the ball home, sending Lips the wrong way.

Just when we started to get a foothold in the game and get out of our own half, we lost Gilly to injury after a wreckless tackle from a Spennymoor player (which didn't even warrant a talking to from the ref). It looked to be the same ankle Gilly hurt a few months ago, so hopefully it's not serious.

Our first real shot on goal came shortly afterwards when Tommy Marron did very well to win the ball back in the Spennymoor half, then ran on and sent a shot down the keeper's throat from the edge of the box.

The second half brought much more Marske possession but not many clear cut chances. Spennymoor had chances too, but Lips was on form again to keep them at bay. The best chance of the half fell to Spennymoor late on when they caught us on the break but the shot smashed against the post.

A tough game but we were by no means disgraced and we were probably the better team in the second half. If we'd started the game better, we might've got something out of it but the double blow left us with a mountain to climb.

Another tough one at Dunston on Tuesday but they might have a bit of a Vase hangover after their exploits on Saturday. Maybe we can get some revenge for the windswept defeat at our place earlier in the season.

Can't disagree with any of that Martin. We just didn't start and you can't be 2 down to a team of Spennymoor's class after 10 minutes and expect to get anything from the game. Both were poor goals to concede. We were much the taller side so to give Moore a free header from a corner was poor defending and Lee's tackle was very poor and defo a pen (for me he gave the Spennymoor too much space and time on the ball).

Was very disappointed with the tackle on Chris which was poor (even if the bloke behind me thought he'd got the ball!!!!!!! ). It should have definitely been a booking and I can't see him being fit for Tuesday which will be another very tough game. However, if we play like we have in previous games in the unbeaten run then we can get something out of the game.

Got to agree with the above two posts especially regarding our previous unbeaten run. The enforced break seems to have affected our momentum as prior to it we were confident no matter who we were playing. We did seem to give Spenny too much respect in the first half but definitely improved in the second. From our point of view their two goals were both the result of poor defending (something that wasn't the case prior to the break) but, in all fairness it could have been five or six if it hadn't been for 'Lips' making his usual couple of 'worldys'.
On a positive note Chris was at my house yesterday and his injury doesn't seem as bad as he first thought so he is hoping to be involved tomorrow at Dunston. Although they are flying at the moment we were one nil up after 25 minutes in the home game and drew one all in the second half. However, unfortunately for us, they scored five wind assisted goals during the twenty minutes in between. We need to start at a high tempo if we are to get anything from the game.
