Heaton Stannington 6 Jarrow 2
Northern League Div 2

Jarrow travelled the short journey over the River Tyne to visit Heaton Stannington and had to change the team due to injury to David Smith and Jonny Hirst with Kieron Featherstone and Kris Allen coming into the side .
The game got off to an explosive start with Lee Johnson having a shot saved after three minutes then Jon Wright neatly chipped keeper Gary Frater from 15 yards for the home sides opening goal after 4 minutes 1-0 following miscontrol on the half way line which fell kindly into Wright's path.

Daniel Robinson and Wright were both then through on the keeper as the home defence struggled against the fast attacks from Heaton. It took 15 minutes for the visitors to register a shot from Grant Pressling which was off target. After 26 minutes an over hit free kick from the touchline by Wright again drifted over the head of the stranded Gary Frater into the net to make it 2-0. Jarrow had a good chance after 30 mins when an poor back pass put Alex Bone through but he knocked the ball wide of the goal. Johnson and Wright were causing real problems for the visitors defence then after 36 minutes a bizarre goal occurred when visiting keeper Gary Frater came out of his area near the corner flag under pressure from Wright he attempted to pass the ball across his goal intended for the Jarrow RB but instead it was miskicked and went into the Jarrow net for an own goal 3-0. With 42 minutes gone a bad back pass by Jordan Ray following good pressure down the Jarrow right wing with Murray saw Grant Pressling force the ball home from close range past Matthew Smith to make it 3-1. On the stroke of the half time whistle Jon Wright hit the bar with another good shot-cross from the touchline for the home side.

HT: Heaton Stannington 3 Jarrow 1
At half time Jarrow changed John Murray and Sam Attewell for Nick Quinn in midfield and Jak Quantrill who was making his debut at full back. The visitors started to get back into the game and from a Stevie Graham cross Peter Kane headed against the post. On 56 minutes an good chipped through ball by Graham lead to Nick Quinn lobbing the ball over Smith from 12 yards to make it 3-2. Heaton brought on speedy winger Abu Salim who had an immediate effect with his direct running. Jordan Mellish was booked for a foul and on 70 minutes after some pressure the visitors failed to clear a cross and Dean Imray struck the ball past Frater from 15 yds to make it 4-2 to Heaton. On 78 minutes an almost identical ball from Holland was latched on to by Imray who beat Frater 5-2. Jarrow introduced Kai Elliott for Kieron Featherstone after 79 mins and a sub for Heaton shortly after saw Matty Shaftoe brought on who quickly had two shots well saved by Frater. On 82 mins a quick throw in on Jarrow's left side caught out the defence and a tough handball decision by referee Dunn against Jordon Mellish resulted in a penalty. Mellish was then dismissed for foul language as a result of protests against the penalty and Gary Frater saved the penalty from Johnson after a 4 minute delay after the penalty was awarded. On the final whistle again the ball was not cleared and Salim forced the ball home to make it 6-2.

Several errors by the visitors defence against a speedy attack and good team play from Heaton Stannington who were clinical infront of goal.
