....or for Marine fans 'people that read & collect books'

Got a cracking soccer-umentary book out of the library - ‘Mad For It – Footballs Greatest Rivalries’ – all the usual suspects are in there: Liverpool / Man U, Inter / AC, Millwall / West Ham, Elgin City / East Stirlingshire...no, really – but no mention of Frickley vs Worksop. Should I mention it to the people in the library – as I assume someone must have torn that very thick chapter out of the book.

you found a football book in a Wakefield Council library?

steps back in amazement.

I once found a history of Castleford Rugby League club in Ossett library, i read it as well, it turns out Wheldon Road used to be the home of Castleford Town football club before they closed in 1926, then the rugby league side moved in.

it made a change from all the cowboy books they seem to think Ossett folk like reading. Yee Hah.

Nah SO, this was in a Sheffield library - as I reside in the Peoples Republic.

well there you go, David Blunkett wasn't just a gobsh*te with a silly beard and a guide dog, he knew how to run a proper library as well.

Perhaps I should make it clear that Mark (Nibbler) is indeed a lover of books.
He has on many occasions recommended to me - and indeed lent me - some fine volumes on non-league football.
Do not be misled by his unique writing style. He is a literate person and an acute observer of the game, and a lover of its traditions.

Mr Blunkett is indeed a fine man really, anyone who suggests bringing in the army to machine gun rioting prisoners is ok by me.
