Extra 50p a head would of been better into the poorer pensioners pockets

Isn't it mostly privately-funded anyway?

I thought it was great too, funny I guessed who'd like it and not like it before they posted.

Also, I think the Londoner's and those that bought that god awful dream number tickets in the lottery funded it. So it's probably cost much less than 50p a head

That's a bit harsh, I think the part called for him to play it cool, sort of "shaken but not stirred"

i didn't realise until later that it was Kenneth Branagh playing Brunel, i thought it was Harry Enfield doing his "plain speaking Yorkshireman" act. The one where Harry Enfield in fake Yorkshire accent says "i've got two things to say about this, first, it's sh*te", the woman he's talking to replies "what's the second thing?", Harry with smirk on face says "its still sh*te"

50p doesn't even buy a packet of crisps these days

Yes it does, just bought a 20p packet of pickled onion Space Raiders from our shop - admittedly my mouth tasted like I'd had 'happy times' with an unwashed pensioner afterwards, but 20p is 20p when it comes to maize based savoury snacks

chilli flavoured crisps are 80p in Dewsbury bus station  the only positive aspect about it all is that my munching annoys the other passengers on the 127 back to Ossett.

Bradley Wiggins - what a lej, but the unluckiest man alive must be Chris Froome - 2nd in the Tour DF & 3rd in the time trial would make him huge any other year.

Bradley Wiggins, born in Belgium, raised in London, lives in a village in Chorley!!!

The town council has given him the freedom of the borough (whatever that means nowadays), and the Royal Mail have painted this postbox ...

Each time the lottery receipts are dipped into though, it's instead of spending it on charitable or other good causes...

I don't think London has funded this through council tax either, it's mainly central government and sponsorship AFAIK.

There is far too much Gary Lineker on the TV for my liking. Other than that I enjoyed the canoeing.
