That was a fantastic show tonight - loved the cauldron and how it came together.

Missed the ceremony (I was at Niagara Falls all day) but looking at the highlights, it looked great.

Great British countryside, cricket, sheep. Then heavy industry and some humour. Sounds good.

didnt see it,
but my oppion is a complete and utter waste of our money,
whats wrong with the teams walking round the stadium with
their flags, and then someone cutting a piece of tape, then saying
i now declare these games OPEN.

A mixed bag really for the opening ceremony, but come on.....27 million for that !!!.

I forgot what a such great state we are in....I think that money could have gone to better use.

All for a bit of glitz and glamour, but not at any price

That's still £8million less than Andy Carroll - I know which I'd prefer....

Course it does - the opening ceremony was brilliant & it will be 4 years before it performs again. Andy Carroll follows the same sort of cycle.....

Well, me or you didn't pay for Andy Carroll !. Unless there's something you want to tell me. Yes, at £2000 a second it was a steal

I thought some parts were great, But why does McCartney have to grab every headline act, like with the Queens Jubilee. He can't sing, well past his sell by date, and frankly he was an embarrassment to the finale.

I sat down at 9pm for the opening ceremony expecting to be bored after ten minutes or so and channel hopping, instead I was amazed to find I was transfixed by it, enjoyed the whole spectacle and watched it all the way through.

Having been pretty cynical about the benefits of GB hosting the games it looks like I'd better prepare for being proved entirely wrong. 8)

it showed what a sh*te actor Daniel Craig is, not even a raised eyebrow when the statue of Winston Churchill started waving at him.

Watching the BBC world service tv channel, the general consensus from around the world is that everyone loved it and thought the British put on a good, entertaining show. We're good at this sort of thing.

it works out at less than 50p for everyone who lives in the UK, no point having a sleepless night over it all.
