Newly sown grass seeds being washed away before they can germinate

Grass seeds that do take less likely to thrive due to lack of sunshine

Pitches likely to cut up under pre-season friendlies with potential ramifications for rest of season

Pre-season friendlies being cancelled due to waterlogging, thereby disrupting preparations

Vounteer working parties unable to get onto grounds to do the summer remedials

Possibility of fixture backlog from week one if we have an August rainfall similar to the last couple of years

Pre-season training affected at clubs who rely on free-to-use grass facilities being serviceable - meaning sessions are either cancelled or have to be moved to hired all-weather or indoor facilities

Hardly watched any cricket this year

Know what you mean about the cricket. Only been 1 Saturday so far when I"ve combined my 2 favourite Summer past-times : Cricket and quaffing the odd pint or two. Last Saturday in May I recall. Here's hoping for Tomorrow!

Wow, sounds pretty bad over there. It's 36c over here and the beer is mega cold and strong. Luckily Toronto FC are the worst team in the MLS, so I'm getting my normal fix of football.

Awful weather.

Cricket Ruined, We've had more games called of this Season than we've had for a very long time.

Wet Silverstone will make for an interesting GP hopefully.

A lot of standing water on the circuit this afternoon, and more rain forecast for tomorrow. Just have to keep our fingers crossed.

Shame Alex, there have been a few events locally called off the ground is absolutely saturated, we haven't had rain here today, infact it has been a lovely summers day had the kids down on the beach this afternoon, then it changed about 1 hr ago, just had a downpour and looks like another on its way, couple of flashes of lightening but no thunder!

Yet we got two out of three Tests v the West Indies completed, plus most of the 50 over games (eg three of the four so far v Australia) and both the 20-20s. I am a member of the cricket club at Southport & Birkdale, and they have finished 10 of their 11 league games this season. Down here, the main team I keep the scorebook for nowadays have had five finished, four affected by rain.
So it doesn't rain all the time, even in the wettest summer on record! Or perhaps I'm saying it makes the glass more than half full ...
