The club are delighted to announce that they have agreed a deal in principle that will see forward Robert Dale return to the club for an undisclosed fee.

Scored 37 goals in 2005/06 when we won the NPL, a repeat of that would be welcome.

Good signing for you Scott, sometimes I wonder if a return to a former club is the right move though, as all to often it goes t!t$ up. Marine have just re-signed Karl Noon, and there again I wonder if its right or not, I know there will be some Marine fans that will welcome him back with open arms due to his famous game of Karl Noon v Ashton United when he was last with the club. We will have to wait and see.

Fixtures out on Friday 13th, now there's a thought!

robbie dale was a class act the last time you was in this league, unless he has had a dip in form,he is a damn good signing for you.

I think he only scored the one goal against you that season and that was from the penalty spot.

Sometimes a return is bad but it's worked out for us before with former players. And at the risk of attracting stick, Robbie is a unique sort of player. The usual rules don't apply to him

I'm confident, but it depends what sort of team we put together. Last time we had a league winning side that basically defied all odds, this time that seems unlikely. In a good side he's a prolific goal scorer, in a bad one he's a decent goal scorer and creator.

I know we have always had a poor record at your place, didn't know you'd beat us with just one player - sounds about right though.

Delighted to see Ben Deegan re-sign for Ashton, also brought back Astley Mulholland who scored a hatful (42?) at NWCL level two seasons ago, fast lil fella

Chorley re-signed Colin Potts (I think it was) a few years ago, he was a legend back in the day apparently but didn't shine at all. Kenny Mayers is another one who didn't bring back the glory days. Risky move returning to where you're considered a legend or anything of the sort.

Doesn't sound like a new team, just the youngster fringes of last years flop! Where's your experience, where is your battling gonna come from? It's looking grim to me! Players like Brayson going to the terriers and Mick tait going to Whitby! Surelly players that you would want and are proven!

I don't have much faith in TC I though he offered very little at Whitby and the club didn't progress! Hopefully I'm wrong thou as actually like Blyth do well!

Bannister had horrendous injury problems last season but when he played he usually scored. Glad we're keeping him so he can have a better run of games and see just what he's got. Rumour was he'd be going to Whitley Bay if we signed Dale so glad we've got both.

Vipond is a very key player, absolute class act until he broke his leg last season. I know Workington were keen to try and tempt him back. Presuming the injury hasn't taken anything from him he'll be one of the best midfielders in the league.

Mason was an under-used player last season, came off the bench on a few occasions and turned games around in our favour. Plenty of pace and a great strike of the ball on him.

Mellish is a pretty fierce defender.

Hunter will probably be back up keeper, young but shown enough in the games he's played to suggest he'll be good to have.

Birdsall is a pretty decent keeper, kicking is lacking though.

I've not yet seen in Utterson what it is Cassidy sees in him.

Brayson wanted more money than we could afford and more money than we would want to pay someone that age. Tait, well I like Tait and would like to see him back. But there's been fallings out so couldn't see that one happening.

I am quite certain we need to some quality new additions, at least four more in my mind. If we don't get them then yeah, we'll struggle. If we do, then we might surprise a few people, including ourselves.
