It is with great sadness to say that former Frickley, Grantham and Stocksbridge goalkeeper and Assistant Manager to Gary Marrow has passed away earlier this week. Gary was a great goalkeeper and was also a part of the management team that won promotion with Stocksbridge and 2 Sheffield Senior Cups. He was one of the true gents in football. H never had a bad word for anyone nor would anyone have a word for him.

My condolences to his family and friends and especially to his young son Jamie.

That is sad, I remember him thwarting Whitby Town many a time. My condolences to Gary's friends and family.

For a view from an ex-opponent & colleague, have a look at the post on Frickleys page from Wonderwoman (page 2 of the thread about Gary).

It puts a tear in your eye & joy in your heart

That is a magnificent post by Wonderwoman. I will try and get the right people to show his family that who will very much appreciate it.

An emotional minutes silence held before the game with Gary's father in attendance as well as his good friend Gary Marrow. When some of the hardest men you know including Brett Bowden-Lovell are reduced to tears you know something tragic has happened.

Did he also play for Goole at one time?
I'm sure I remember a young keeper of the same name, up at the Silverlands many seasons ago. Only small for a goal-keeper......but he was brilliant that game if he was the same one.
Whether or not, RIP Gary and condolences to his family.

Yes, early in his career he had a loan spell there.

Superb tribute by Wonderwoman

That's the sign of a great goalie.
We stand behind the goals to watch our teams score......but we always remember the name of the keeper who kept us out. I think we won 1-0 that night. It would have been 6-0 if not for Gary.

Tragic news.

Even despite our recent years away from the NPL, you remember certain players and I instantly knew the name of Gary Ingham.
Great players earn that recognition from opposition fans and as a goalie Gary certainly did that.

RIP Gary Ingham
