First experience of the Integro league cup this evening. I see Alty have put out a decidedly second string team - is this par for the course for this competition?

Yes, generally, although a few teams do seem to take it seriously, especially in the First Division.
Take a look at most gates to see what the supporters think ...

See what you mean, though over 1000 at South Shields. One other thing, a suspciously high number of very local derbies last night - is this also a thing in the early rounds?

Yes, so many derbies it can't be a coincidence.
Good idea in this competition, actually.
Makes most gates seem even poorer, though.

Definite being regionalisation going on. Happy with a derby and the gate, less so with the result. Wonder if Shields' was first 4 figure crowd in that competition aside from the final?

The only other likely candidates would be FC United but from browsing their archives it seems they had a tremendous knack of being drawn away from home and getting knocked out at the first opportunity.
