Our friendly this afternoon with Southport FC ended in a 0 - 0 draw at the MTA. Gate was good for a friendly @ 311. Not a good game in my opinion but a good work out, we held our own against a higher league side so am sure our manager will take something out of this game. Off to Prescott Cables on Tuesday evening, hope the pitch is in as good a condition as ours. We will see......

Five bookings and a sending off for Colne in Saturday's 'friendly' - and top scorer Matt Chadwick added to the injury list with an ankle now sporting the same colours as an Inter Milan home shirt. Expecting better off FC United tonight, good luck to anybody else who've put Colne in their pre-season schedule.

Lost 0-1 to Burnley U23's last night but despite the scoreline the performance was pleasing and the shape and nucleus of the team are starting to show.

Rhyl at home on Sat.

Ahhh those were the days before the Welsh league was formed, when games against Oswestry, Bangor, Rhyl and Caernarfon were regular fixtures in the NPL.

Oswestry, that name fascinated me when I was a kid watching Skem.

Got done 2-3 at home against a poor Rhyl team. - Not a lot to be positive about after that one but it is only pre-season so we move on.

Tuesday at Home against Barrow

Lost 1-3 at home against Barrow. Better performance although the centre defence looks decidedly dodgy. More holes than Swiss cheese!

Droylesden away on Sat
