Take over, announced, but Harrop was still involved so out of the frying pan and into the fire they went as the high court judge did not agree and wound them up.

Commiserations to the real Ikeston fans, time to restart as a fan/committee run club.

When will people in that part of Derbyshire/Notts ever learn. Eastwood, Hucknall and now Ilkeston.

Talk of a phoenix fan run club under the name Ilkeston United Community Football Club. Apparently trying to get the Borough Council to lease them the New Manor Ground.

In times of financial burden I wonder if the Council will look to sell the ground, could get a nice housing estate on it.

Nice was perhaps not quite the correct description.

With the size of the pitch and car park a quite large estate could be built. The land must be worth several mil of a developers money.

Hopefully the council do their job and keep the ground for football. Hope there's a covenant on it.

You talk as if it is the same people making the same mistakes over and over again. Completely new owners took over Ilkeston FC after Ilkeston Town went bust. They turned out to be a pair of crooks. Just bad luck on our part that we have had a succession of clowns and conmen "selling" to other clowns and conmen for £1.

What can us the fans do? We have tried relentlessly to try and get control and/or influence of the club over the last 7 or 8 years. But these kind of owners aren't interested in fans being involved for obvious reasons. Our supporters group tried to reform the club back in 2010 after ITFC went bust but the assets of the liquidated club (FA license, ground lease etc) were brought by Dave Mantle for alledgedly £250,000. The supporters group tried to buy in to IFC about 18 months ago when it became obvious the club was in a mess and Nigel Harrop (who took over from Mantle) offered 5% of the club for £25,000, valuing a club teetering on bankruptcy at half a million quid!! There's just no way in unless you have a good owner with nothing to hide willing to have fans on board.

I believe a club has already been been registered this week by the supporters group with the FA with the assumption IFC would go so hopefully we can finally get our wish now. I believe there is a covenant on the ground that keeps it for sporting use.

Nigel Harrop and the people who were supposedly interested in taking over are apparently confident of winning an appeal over today's winding up. But safe to say even if they do a lot of fans (I would hope 90%+) are only interested in a fan run club now so could be a Northwich Vics / 1874 type scenario.

good luck to ilkeston in their comeback in whatever name. always sad when a football club dies, was only the season before last they were getting 500+ at every home game.

Hopefully they come back a tad better financially as most clubs do , you had decent crowds and a decent supporters club , something only Buxton could dream about .

If it's a true fans club, you'll get there. How about AFC Ilkeston after your former supporters' team?

If Harrops appeal against the winding up order is successful they will not be playing in the Evo Glue League as they were kicked out today.

Erewash Council have stated they would wish for the ground to be retained for football.
