Almost asked myself the same question last night...whatever it is you have to do, I'm glad you didn't do it against us.

What's worse in the stocky performances is we've been in front in four of our first six games.

vs Chorley 69mins winning 4-2, lost 5-4
vs Stafford 71m mins winning 1-0, drew one all (Fair enough it happens)
vs Worksop 85mins winning 1-0, lost 2-1
v Blyth 69mins winning 2-1 lost 3-2

9 points pee'd up the wall because we can't keep a lead. Shocking display by certain members of our defense, however this should be partly rectified on saturday (famous last words).

Stocksbridge Park Steels 2-3 Blyth Spartans

We certainly worked hard for that one last night. They were all over us first half but we broke, Robbie won a header outside the area, turned past his marker and curled one in off the post to put us in front. In the second half Stocksbridge got their equaliser when a powerful low shot was a bit much for our keeper to handle. And then we gave away another silly penalty for them to take the lead. That was frustrating as we'd had several chances just before then and looked to be getting on top. We responded almost immediately though when a Robbie Dale cross found Farrell in front of goal and he megged the keeper. And then in the last minute Hooks played a low cross across the face of goal and Farrell finished at the back post for the win. A very hard fought, if not pretty win. All wins are good wins.

Post game reaction from Tommy http://blythspartansafc.co.uk/new_php/?p=8700

Reaction from two goal hero, Craig Farrell http://blythspartansafc.co.uk/new_php/?p=8697

And a piece on our love of goal scoring...just need to improve our defending http://blythspartansafc.co.uk/new_php/?p=8699

Yas,

Buxton dominated the physical side of the game but created very little, we tried to avoid the over-run midfield by playing balls aimed to go beyond the bucks backline for our forwards to run onto, then after 75 mins of buxton stopping Marine and seemingly getting the point they came for gaps appeared and the Buxton defense got shaky. A neutral would say Buxton didnt deserve to lose give the midfield domination but we took our chances, the only time Callum (our reserve keeper) was threatened was with dodgy backpasses!!! two very simple but well worked goals, carver was played in and beat his man for pace and slotted past the advancing keeper, then from a corner at the other end we got control of the ball, pl;ayed it to fowler who was 1 v 1 on the halfway line cue howels of offside from players and fans... who advanced on the keeper and played it across to carver who was behind him when the ball was played cue moans of offside from goalie and defender to slot in an open goal.

Oh and we kicked the wrong way in the game.

SPS fans we are slowly filling a coach for the game on sat.... lets enjoy the game :)

Phil,

Cheers for your match report mate much appreciated! So we were kicking to the Crossender in 2nd half, very unusual. Glad you got the supporters coach up and running, you do a fantastic job at the MSA well done!

Think we should get through this round, but SPS are no pushovers, taking the lead in every game they have played but not holding on, lets hope Saturday is our lucky day!

ps is Carver due to return to Accy?
