A fairly comfortable win for the Saxons, Bacup were fairly decent at the back and steady in midfield but didn't really create too much. Stockport looked pretty solid at the back and in John Marsden have one of the form strikers in the league. He's made huge improvements fitness wise in recent weeks and i'd fully expect this scoring run to continue from him. Sadly for the club his form will undoubtedly increase interest in him from higher up the pyramid. I'd be very surprised if they're able to hold onto him until the end of the season.

I was intererested to read Brent Peters comments on the game. It's funny because I was sure I saw him there yet judging by his comments he couldn't have been. How he can say his side were the better team in a game that they did not even produce a shot on goal is a mystery.
He also mentioned how a massive deflection led to one of the goals, I suppose if you could call a flick off a defender as the ball was on it's way in anyway a massive delfection then he's right again.
The Saxons hit the post three or four times in the game & had numerous chances to add to their tally before taking their foot off the gas late on.
Peters obviously trying to deflect attention away from the fact that Bacup played really poorly on the day.

Any team that Brent Peters manages is automatically the best team in the world. The man is a media hungry former professional that's desperately trying to cling on to the slight fame he once possessed. Any excuse to get his face or words in the media he will take and these words are usually filled with tripe! I find the best policy when reading articles or statements made by Brent is to automatically discredit them to ensure accuracy of an account.

Haha, cheers. It's not just me that thinks that then!!
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw his comments. There's defending your team (which he is entitled to do) and then there's ignoring all the facts and just making something up, which is what he appears to have done.

I shall certainly use your policy from now on & ignore any comments he makes.

Just in case you wanted further confirmation that you were not alone in being baffled by Brent Peters ramblings, I posted this about two seasons ago when we beat bacup 4-0 at their place....

"Many thanks for coming on and particularly for your kind comments about our brand of football. Some of the players do come on here and I'm sure they'll appreciate praise, particularly when it comes from an unbiased source. It was good to get your view because a few seconds before I'd gone onto Bacup's site to see if they'd finally got their match report online. They had, and I really shouldn't have bothered! The report and Brent Peters subsequent comments (which were only a repetition of the report)beggared belief. Apparently, it was all the referees fault that they got beat!....and there was me thinking Bacup had got off lightly! It is worth comparing and contrasting our match report and theirs!"
