A fabulous performance by the Saxons today, finally they took the chances that were created. Also looked a lot more solid at the back. St Helens definitely fancied it after their draw with Bootle last week but the early goal was definitely the key. Stockport also didn't take their foot off the pedal late on as they have in other games this season and didn't allow them back into the game.
New signings Jay Mehmet and Jordan Jacobs look quality and it was good to see John Marsden stick his chances away.
Donaldson Sackey made his debut too, although I don't actually think he touched the ball. There will still be plenty more to come from him.
Certainly a result to build on, and one that has been coming for weeks. Hopefully now confidence will grow, results improve and we'll climb the table.
