A decent game, both sides had a go at winning and a draw was probably a fair result.
The Saxons went 2-0 up but made two defensive errors to let Stone back into the game. The Stone attackers were brilliant throughout the match I'd expect them to cause most teams problems this season.
After losing a two goal lead it did feel like a defeat at the time, but in reflection it maybe a point gained.
Full match report now on the official website

You keep kidding yourselves................Stone, as well as they've done in their opening two games, will finish in the bottom third of the league.

There appears to have been a lot of 'smoke and mirrors' with Stockport Sports - lots of glitzy press releases, double training sessions, french imports..............I may well have to eat my words, but (as per the match report) "based on that performance Stone will be a formidable opponent to any side this season" I think you may be in for plenty more shocks along the way.....

I've seen a lot of football at this level and I can say with confidence that Stone's attacking three from Tuesday night would have troubled most teams. The problem they obviously have is that they don't pay their players at all, so lose them when other clubs come in for them. If they were able to keep that side together I have no doubt at all that they would not finish in the bottom third of the table.

I'd ask that you clarify your comment on smoke and mirrors Bear. The season is two games old and after two away games Stockport have four points on the board. That's on the back of an unbeaten pre-season, nearly all the games of which were played against higher ranked clubs. How is that 'smoke and mirrors'.
As for 'glitzy press releases' people at the club are working very hard on a voluntary basis to try to get more publicity for the club and attempt to increase attendances. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that. If it succeeds I would imagine most clubs at this level would start to do the same.

I can only speak for one or two (who have expressed similar opinions) but there appears to have been a lack of respect for the Division you are now playing in.

Comments from your captain that "anything less than winning the league will be seen as a failure" - dont exactly endear the club to the majority of others who have scrapped hard for years to try and survive at this level.
Just because (in your previous incarnation) Woodley finished 8th in the league above, it doesnt give the club an automatic right to breeze through this league - quite the opposite in fact - you are going to have to earn every single point.

Its nothing personal, but I would much prefer to see a Bootle, Padiham, Glossop or indeed (doubtful) Congleton gain promotion.

Fair Call Bear, I dont think the captains comments were aimed at anyone though other than his own personal thoughts and ambition. As stated before the club itself will be more than happy with a mid table finish. And making sure things are in place to move forward at the right time. All the best to those teams you have mentioned. And already I am sure the club realise how hard it is to get points even at Stone Dominoes who have been written off to run last. All the best to your team.

The comments by the club captain are his own opinion and that's him setting his own targets. I'd rather a captain set high standards than say he was looking to finish mid-table. If he'd said that people would laugh at him for being negative. It's a no win situation.
My concern is not peoples opinions of the players, that should be formed by on field performances only, but the opinion they have of the club. The question I asked was what was actually wrong with volunteers giving up their own time to help the club take a more professional approach in an attempt to build up interest? That's what the 'glitzy press releases' are for.
Ultimately no matter what approach is taken the club will receive criticism from supporters of other clubs. I can assure you that nobody at the club is expecting to breeze through the league at all. Quite the opposite in fact, they are very aware of the challenge that this league represents.
