I know it is early days for rolling subs and having just officiated in my first game of the season i found it better than what i thought although with all the substitution's been made there is more added time, how are the clubs finding the change

Are there any rules about the length of time they have to be on the pitch for rolling subs? Can you for example at a free kick or penalty bring on a player who's good at taking free kicks or penalties then sub him straight after?

In field hockey you see them bring on specialist penalty corner takers and sub them straight after.

It for me works at this time of season when clubs have big squads,we had 18 there last nyt so could freshen things up all through the game.

Brandon done the same with using a few first team players to get mins in and they had a good luck at trialists.

It allows you to try and keep everyone happy.

But come november when players have moved on for different reasons and you have you core 15/16 available the rule won't be used as much by teams.

So Imo its working but could get silly when a team is 1v0 with 2mins to go and just start making constant subs to break up play.

I think it's a stupid rule, it makes a farce of the game

Worst rule change in football

We're an Alliance club but are in the Durham Challenge Cup so will probably be meeting some Durham Alliance sides along the way....and I'm dreading seeing this rule.

Kids football, yes, but not adults.

It's ideal if you want to bring in an extra wide receiver for a vital play when you're a Touchdown behind in the game..... Oh wait  !

How long before we see an Ice Hockey style 'pull' of a teams netminder too?! In order to gain an outfield advantage when in search of an equaliser??

Nah, didn't think so

What next? Timeouts, powerplays and cheerleaders

The rule isn't used in the dcc though is it, its only used in the durham alliance.... Stupid rule which can only benefit clubs who can actually name 18

We were told at the Alliance league meeting that those DFA clubs better get used to it as it'll be used in the County Cup competitions.

Admittedly I haven't looked further into it though.

Got to admit as well, if we're 1 goal ahead in a cup game with 5 mins to go then expect a lot of stoppages from me :D
(likewise I'd expect the same done to me if we're behind.... :( )

Ah, my mistake. We're in the Durham Trophy, not the Challenge Cup
