The best thing that could have happened for Darlo...get Chris Hardy from Whitby..cracking manager and likes his teams to play on the ground...also good at working with very limited resources.
I hope Gray pays up for terminating his contract early (and the club didnt mutually agree to terminate it without appropriate compensation).
Getting a manager who buys into the fan owned ethos of your club will be a great opportunity..
Dont mourn the loss of a "great" manager after he spent money on playing budgets you could not afford to be a big fish in a small pond up until now.
Dont ever forget you you are Darlington FC, fan owned, have a ground in town, have a good squad and Brian Atkinson is a top coach (when he briefly coached at spennymoor he was instrumental in us winning the league that year and i was gutted when he left us).

Brian Atkinson and Sean Gregan are the management team until the end of the season.

Hopefully we will be alright with that, forget a tilt at promotion this season and get the ground up to scratch.

It's always kind of astounded me how keen the fans and Gray always were to get up the leagues as quick as possible at whatever cost? To achieve what, hit our ceiling a couple of seasons quicker?

We're only 1 league below where we were when Singh put us in administration and are already playing back in town after having no ground, what has been achieved has been incredible. But going forward we need to go at a pace that we can sustain.

Brian Atkinson is an excellent coach and should make a good manager. I think you'll be surprised at how well he does. He's a proper football man and likes his teams to play proper football. You already have the players at the club to do that.
TBH I think it's the right thing for the club for Gray to go. Nothing wrong with being ambitious but at the fans forum he was gambling the club's future to try to meet his own personal ambitions.
I think you'll do just fine now. Good luck for the rest of your season.

Oh, and btw, what has been achieved so far is all down to the fans.
You picked the club up off the floor.
Your attendances have been great.
You have funded every penny of Gray's team building.
You have supported the team through thick and thin.
You have paid for BM out of your own pocket.
Gray has been a bit part player in the tremendous success of a fans owned club.
Please don't forget that:-)

Thanks Handifan2. Life will go on without Gray. Despite his often professed "love for the club", the fact he insisted on a contract that gave us no compensation if he went to another non-league club suggests the love for Martin Gray was paramount. His post departure mutterings, and his infamous forum interjection, have shown his contempt for what we as fans have done for him, let alone the club.

He got us three promotions, but was well funded to do so. Jason Ainsley and Graeme Fenton have/will soon have done the same. As soon as he has had to show his mettle as a manager and a coach without the funds to buy the best players, he has folded. I look forward to seeing what Brian and Sean can do.

He said that we need to change the way that we run the club the other day. Meaning what? The cheeky get.

The challenge ahead for Darlo is what happens when you have a "bad" season i.e. not challenging at the top. Gray has shown his true colours. I'm sure the fans will show theirs.
