Read on another forum Play offs to include teams down to 6-7th places but not confirmed format.
All to be confirmed at AGM.
National League twitter says Play off rules/format to change.

Don't get it at all or see the point. If it's not broke, don't fix it. If they were looking to improve it, they should've just made it three up and three down. Teams finishing 7th should not have the chance to go up. Completely ridiculous

Also more barminess MK Dons for North South final
Even clubs in South division some clubs quite a distance from Milton Keynes.

Its even worse if you look at last season three teams from the South and Darlo from North were disqualified for the play offs meaning a team that comes 8th/9th/10th could qualify.

Then there is the 3G pitch situation where they can be used in the National play offs but resulting promotion would mean removal, failure or refusal to remove will result in automatic relegation!

Was going to compose a rant about these changes but the above post nails it.

The distance to Milton Keynes is far from the most odious aspect of the final being played there!
Credit to the clubs who voted against this nonsense.

Well League 2 has been ridiculous for as long as the play offs have existed then.

I wondered this. The league gives the opportunity down to 6th for Champ and League one and 7th for league 2.

The only thing I'm not sure about is, what the advantage does the 2nd place team have over the 3rd?

It is in my opinion, although I've personally never been a fan of playoffs as it is. Never quite understood why a team finishing 7th in League Two for instance should have the same chance of going up over a side finishing 4th and nearly 20 odd points ahead of them, but that's just me

To be fair, in league 2 there are 3 automatic promotions spots, and 4 play off spots making 7th a play off place.

Finishing 7th and getting a play off spot because you are the 4th placed play off team in itself isn't ridiculous - but finishing 7th because you are the 6th placed play off team is getting nearer to ridiculous, should there really be 6 clubs in the play offs after the automatic promotion spot(s)?

Whatever next, an 8 club play off, top half maybe?

I know, I know, I've got a better idea - top 22 play off? They all play each other home and away, and the eventual winners and also 2nd place go up. Sorted :D

It will make the final weeks of the season more interesting for number of teams who, otherwise, would be thinking about their holidays.

I agree generally though, it does all feel a bit odd.
