Still three teams then with 100% records after four games - Guiseley, Brackley & Chester. The first two have greatly superior goal differences however and look the more convincing.

We had a good win today against Altrincham, running out 4-2 winners. Matty McGinn's strike in the 90th min to seal the points was truely amazing. Alty looked a decent side though and will feel they perhaps should have got something out of the game.

Elsewhere Halifax & Boston both dropped points in games you may have expected them to win. I believe Rainford missed a sitter today, Halifax fans? It can't have been easier than the one he missed for us last season at the same ground...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Bambi, but no sitter was missed. He was only thwarted by a death or glory tackle by a defender who took no further part in the game. Furthermore, Jamie is in great form. We both know what is written in the stars for next week

Highlights of our game are now online: http://www.youtube.com/user/AltrinchamFCVideos

Fair play Easty looks like I heard wrong. Our match is just around the corner and I can't wait. Hope you Halifax lot come in numbers for that one!

A blop here on the Alty vs Chester game.

Craking goal from Powell, at 2-2 it was anyone's game. Terrific entertainment, I enjoyed myself. Shame about the minority of fans feeling the need to fight.

Great read :D

We've come an awful long way in just over two years. It was only in Feb 2010 that I watched a video on YouTube charting the newly defunct Chester City's history - with tears in my eyes. We're a completely different animal these days.

That's a nice away kit you've got there!
Is there any reason for a Green strip?

We went there too Bambi mate, both our sets of fans know what that feels like I guess. Next Weds, I'd expect a minimum 400/500 to come across.

It's alright isn't it! Wasn't too sure at first but it's grown on me and, predictably, I ended up buying it. We've had a green away kit in the past so we're reverting to that this season. There's shirts of all different colours down the Deva these days - blue n white, purple, white n black, yellow, green... etc

Yep Easty you guys went through it not long before us. That's why I hope both of our clashes attract big crowds - they'll each represent something truely remarkable off the back of our recent histories. Our game on Wednesday week will hopefully serve as encouragement to those who have just set up new club or to those who may soon seek to.

....not to mention the small matter of the promotion race

Cheers Bambi. I have a lot of time for Chester and what they are about. :D

Not sure about the green away kit though! :?

Nay Bambi, show some ambition. This is a race for the title, no less.

Hope so Easty. Need to sort out the Brackley's and Guiseley's of this world first...

Wouldn't say we were expected to win. Lot of teams will find it tough going at The Horsfall and the task is made harder when it's derby day.

Jamie should have done better with his effort but when you are a bit part player without much confidence then it makes things that much harder. We know he has the ability to knock the ball over advancing keepers (histon away) but just panicked a bit. I don't expect JR to be at The Shay at the end of the year anyway, we all know his temperament and his ego won't continue to take being 4th choice striker.

Rainford has done well coming on as a sub causing teams all sorts of problems with his pace, I don't think Neil Aspin has made his mind up yet what his best formation is never mind who his first choice team is. There has been no sign of anything from Jamie other than 100% effort and enthusiasm so far. I think he has a lot to give this season.
