Here we are then, after a summer filled with Euro Championships and Olympics it's back to the bread and butter of domestic football. I'm not hugely familiar with the BSS but it seems the BSN is shaping up to be a very competitive division. So, who's going where this weekend?

BSN Fixtures:

Altrincham v Brackley
Bishop's Stortford v FC Halifax
Bradford PA v Worcester
Colwyn Bay v Solihull Moors
Corby v Vauxhall Motors
Droylsden v Boston Utd
Gainsborough v Gloucester
Hinckley Utd v Harrogate Town
Histon v Guiseley
Oxford City v Chester
Workington v Stalybridge

Oxford City 0 Chester 1. Attn 1,025 - with at least 700 odd of those being away fans.

Deserved victory for Chester on the opening day, we played some tidy passing football and coped comfortably with Oxford's threat. Their best spell was at the start of the second half but once that flurry was over there was rarely cause for concern. New signings Dave Hankin and Paul Linwood both had impressive games while one of the old boys, Iain Howard, demonstrated why Youngy's been so keen to keep him at the club.

Difficult to see Oxford finishing above halfway on that showing but it's early days.

Next up, table topping Workington 8)

Is there a massive difference between the Evostick Premier and the BSN? What do you reckon Chester's chances on another promotion are?

Can't really tell from Saturday mate. Oxford City came up like ourselves and probably don't represent the standard in the BSN particularly well. They didn't seem any stronger than your average Evo-Stik Prem side to be honest. The game pattern was pretty similar to many away days over the last few seasons. Again the support was tremendous, only really a handful of non-league clubs would travel that distance in such numbers.

Chances of promotion are hard to call. The title is destined to go to The Shay I feel so provided we can get a play-off place, it all depends on who we play and where. We'll be up there though.

How about Vics mate, the attendance on Saturday should tell Rushe everything he needs to know surely?

Definitely some big teams in that League. From what I remember from our seasons on the BSN it's a 50/50 spread of teams that try and play football and teams that just try and hoof it forward. I can't see any reasons why you wouldn't push for the play offs, what I saw of Chester last year was probably good enough to punch their weight in the BSN.

Chester v Halifax looks like it could be a cracker of game. When you play eachother at the Deva Stadium I'd be very temped to come down if I'm at a loose end (which I will be with a lot of Saturdays this season). I'd be tempted to watch your Clashes with Alty, and hope you give them a good beating

As for Vics, Well....
The attendance was 86 (30 Stamford and 10 neutrals). But Jim doesn't care about the attendance, he doesn't care about the club; he's there for a very different reason! It's not Vics to me anymore; it's just a bunch of lads no ones ever heard of playing in an empty stadium 40 miles away. It's really just a case of waiting around for the inevitable.

I feel the same way as Mr Vics. It's just visiting new grounds for me and writing blogs and reports. Just want the Trust to start a new team next season now.

Chester 1 Workington 0 - attn: 3,007

Deserved win for City in the end but we had to work for it. Workington are a tough and stubborn side who will grind out plenty of results this season. We had more flair though and you could argue the scoreline doesnt reflect our performance quite accurately, you'll always settle for a 1-0!

Good crowd in tonight as well.
