I don't think Raiford will be with us by the end of the year. First club that offers us some of our money back and he'll be off. Very hard to keep four strikers happy at any level, especially one as stroppy as Rainaldo

He will end up back at marine

Had we not paid money for him and given him a 2 year contract then I suggest he would have been well on his way by now. We will see what happens but from what I saw in the Brighouse game his attitude still hasnt changed. He spent his time on the pitch moaning non stop, swearing and berating his team mates. Had I have still been playing and a lad like that was in my set up and have tw@ted him right between the eyes long before now. Cant be doing with that type at all. If he ends up on the bench for the first few games in the League then there will be Facebook witterings once again im sure. Aspin has a proven record of getting the best out of tail ends like him but I think this is a battle he wont win with Rainford.

Qualter, Jarrett and Marshall confirmed signings added to Squad.

Plenty of experience in the squad this time around. Things are looking good this season as far as squad numbers, we were a bit short last season.
Maybe just Luke O'Brien to sign.

Rainford was excellent yesterday against Scunthorpe.

If we can get OB tied down then it would just about cap off an unbelievable summer recruitment session.

Very difficult not to be confident about this season.

You're a strange lot at Chester. I see you're all having a go at the latest striker you've signed and the season hasn't even started yet. Maybe you'd have seen the Jamie Rainford we've been treated to if you'd given him some backing? Or if you had a better manager who could get the best out of him. I fancy him for a couple at your place in September.

Other sides have gone out and strengthened well also. We are still only one of maybe 6 sides in with a decent shout at the title. Looking forward to the start of the season but i look forward to the start of every season. I'll only start getting excited about title chances if we are in the mix come the turn of the year.

None of them have strengthened to the extent we have. Glennon, Futcher, O,Brien, Worthington, Seddon...................show me another side who have got proven Football League players like that, and not just the odd one, five or six of them. Of course nothing is given away on paper but we have a hell of a chance!

Agreed we've made some good signings but it doesn't mean this season will be a cake walk. A lot of these players are dropping down from full to part time and it is a different ball game, some will thrive others may struggle. You don't neccesarily need football league players to achieve your goals in the Conference players that have been there and done it at that level before (granted the likes of Seddon and Worsley do have BSN promotions under their belts) The season we won the Evo-Stik North should have been a formailty with the points we gained and a squad made up of players mainly from BSN level, but it only takes one side to find a scoring gem and a bit of team ethic like Lancaster to nearly spoil the party and push you all the way. In the BSN this season Guiseley, Altrincham and Stalybridge and Worcester have all got stronger squads and all will all fancy their chances. Chetser are a bit of an unknown quantity but you can almost guarantee that if they are within a shout of 1st place at the turn of the year, their fanbase will provide both the lure and the money to entice a decent standard of league player on loan to give them a boost. I'm not saying we don't have a chance, but at the moment that's all it is, a chance.

Pretty fair comments there. In the three years we've been going we have had a new squad every year. The last two have seen big changes in personnel. Although Young mentioned that he wasn't going to tamper to much with the team this year, he has brought in seven new players. Like you pointed out we usually do strengthen well during the season, but this has been on a foundation of a team doing well and riding high, obviously if the teams doing well then the budget increases through turnstile revenue.
We've generally always started well so far, be interesting to see if this team now will do the same. Defence wise we look strong, just missing a goal scorer and we'll be up their no doubt, with what i have seen so far anyway

Let's hope he repays your high praise... :?

As for the promotion race, Chester and Halifax will both be up there but it's hard to see past Town when it comes to winning the league. We'll get stronger as the season progresses and if our crowds can remain around the 2,500 mark there'll be more money in the coffers for improvements.
