Not to concerned about pre-season in fairness, we've got enough games before the season starts to sort it out. Didnt go to flyde yesterday but went to the buckley game. Very hard in my opinion to judge anything at this stage!, of the new signings ive seen (proudlock aside) it looks promising. I cant see us shipping many goals this year, but on other hand we're a decent striker away from being a very good side!. Should we have let simmo and wilde go?, time will tell. I think Jarman will be a good addition, he just needs a partner which could be Marc Williams who knows. Biggest loss in my opinion is Alex Brown, going to struggle to replace players like that without breaking the bank.
Only good thing is, if other fans of different clubs are talking about us then we are obviously a threat. Long may that continue and be justified :D

Made huge steps towards sorting it out in this evening's game - 3-0 win over Southport.

We were better all over the pitch, playing some lovely football and making life difficult for the Sandgrounders when they were on the ball. Moyo looks like a great prospect and the old guard of Howard, Booth, Powell etc made good contributions. We looked like a team tonight, no question.

Ya ill go along with most of that!. We kept the ball very well, with at least 70% possession id say. Up untill the goal i still thought we lacked anything in the final third, midfields were alittle isolated from the guys up top. Think we are really good at the back and dont think we are going to ship many goals next year. Moyo played well and possibly deserves a contract, Williams showed good touches, think Jarman with a decent partner will be a good addition.
In all i thought Southport were quite poor, but that was mainly due to us keeping the ball well!, when the first goal came you could see the confidence grow. On to the next now and lets keep it going!

Southport tired didn't they towards the end. They'd worked hard chasing the ball down second half and it told.

slight dent in the Shaymens preparations tonight. Game away at Mosley called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Stockport next up at the Shay on Saturday.

Towns game V Stockport at the Shay tomorrow in doubt. Pitch has taken so much rain of late and the groundsmen have not been able to get the mowers on. :(

Game on.

Jason Jarrot & Luke O'Brien named in the Town squad. If we can get those two tied down it would be one hell of a squad.

Glennon, Futcher, Worthington, Seddon, Jarret & O'Brien - all could hold their own in league 2.

What the hell is is all costing though?

Halifax Town 2 - 0 Stockport County 0

Johnson (15)

and.................wait for it Chester fans.........................................RAINFORD :P (73)

That goal should do him good. Got mobbed by his teammates after the goal so it looks like he is part of the group, hopefully that will settle him a bit!

Down side was seeing Dan Gardner stretchered off around the half hour mark.

Trialists Jarret and O'Brien really impressive. Hope we can sign them. Other, perhaps bigger clubs looking at them so not sure.

Att: 882

Early signs extremely encouraging.

Farsley 1-3 Halifax Town

Seddon
Gregory
Rainford

Another decent work out which makes it Played 3 won 3 so far in pre-season. The fitness levels are particularly impressive. I cant recall seeing a fitter set of lads at part time level. Seddon, Rainford, Gregory and Johnson all look in form and full of goals. Pre season results dont really matter but I have to say im pleased with what im seeing at the moment. Its all very clinical and professional.

Next up is sunny Scunny at the Shay on Saturday.

Chester 2 Liverpool XI 3. Attn. 1,707

Good run out for the lads against a pacey and youthful Liverpool outfit. We went 2-0 up in the first half but within the blink of an eye we succumbed to two counter attacks and we were all square again at 2-2. We fell behind early in the second half to, yes, another counter attack and despite our best efforts the Reds held on for a victory.

We did ourselves no harm though and are looking like a good side with enough depth to remain competitve over the long season.

Villa up next, this Saturday.

Completely lost concentration 3 times at the back and were punished by pacey counter attacking. Dunno bout you Bambi but am not impressed with Proudlocks performance tonight. Complete cart horse who wasnt propared to put a shift in!. he seeme to want the ball to come to him rather than create space and work for it. You could say its early days but i disagree!. Felt sorry for likes of Ash,matty mginn, marc w who ran there socks off and had that dumplin as a team mate trouncin about!.
If we get a centre mid player with ash, and a forward with Williams i think were there

Wouldn't disagree about Proudlock - although I'm desperate to give him a chance. Like I've said on DC, you do wonder what the thinking is behind letting Wildey and Simmo go in order to replace them with Proudlock. Can't imagine money is the reason, Proudlock won't be on any less than either of them. It's certainly an odd one but Youngy's record speaks for itself and I'll reserve judgement for now.

It did worry me slightly though when I heard how glad the Telford fans were to be rid of him!
